this is the one thing that i don't get
Billy's use of the word "WHORE" in ava adore.

yes it rhymes
but that's not good enough of a reason.
it might be a regional linguistic thing.. i dunno
someone explain it to me

on a great album like adore
how and why does billy want to use the word whore?
as the sister word of 'adore' is the polar opposite his intention?
a parallel?
he's too billy to be literal

as a "billy can never do wrong"
how do you justify to yourself the intent of this word?
it's too simple, obvious and weighted pass as an SP lyric
yet i can't figure it out for the life of me a billy depth to it.
help me netphoria

to me adore is a strong emotion, love mixed with lust...a selfishness for someone that you don't want to share with anyone else. It has always seemed pretty obvious to me. Ava Adore is so great because of the different things going on in it. On one level its this mean, almost degrading song and on another level its actually very devotional and sweet. This is also paralleled in the harsh electronic thumping verse vs. the Beatlesque chorus.

Whore doesn't necessarily mean trollop any more you know. Media whore, attention whore (See: Strawberry,) so I wouldn't take it too literally. Much like everything else Bill says, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

I think it's because the character he is singing about is someone he doesn't like or respect at some level despite loving them.

OR it is just for shock value and rhymes nicely with 'adore'.

Here are the alternative lines he rejected during the sessions (I was in the studio with them):
