I like my 360, but FWIW, I'll be getting a PS3 when Metal Gear comes out. It looks like it has a more diverse library of strong games going forward. The 360 has a lot of great games, but the bulk of them are FPS, so if you are not into that (like me), you'll be disappointed.

I wanted to pick up the MGS4 PS3 bundle when it came out next month, but I just had to drop $460 to fix my car radiator, so now I'm not certain I want to buy one.

Essentially what suncrashesdown said, IMO. I think the 360 has got some excellent FPS games, but I do like the variety the PS3 offers, plus the Blu-Ray player makes it even more attractive. As for the Wii, apart from Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart, there really isn't any other game I'm dying to play on it.

2002 Mitsubishi Galant. Labor costs are what drove the price up high.

What types of games? This will also be a very good year for the 360 in terms of non-FPS games. I'll go ahead a list some non-FPS games for the 360 that are out and then I'll mention some that are coming which will be amazing. I will be including some third person shooters and first person horror type games though.

Out already:

Ace Combat 6
Armored Core 4
Army of Two
Assassin's Creed
Beautiful Katamari
Bioshock (please don't lump it into typical fps types)
Blue Dragon
Bully: Scholarship Edition
Burnout Revenge
Burnout Paradise
Chromehounds
Command and Conquer 3
Conan
Crash of the Titans
Dark Sector
Dead Rising
Dirt
Earth Defense Force 2017
Eternal Sonata
Forza 2
Gears of War
GTA 4
Guitar Hero 2 and 3
Stranglehold
Kane and Lynch
Lost Odyssey
Lost Planet
Mass Effect
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Rock Band
Skate
Stuntman
Oblivion
Orange Box
Viking
Viva Pinata

EndWar
Civilization
The Bourne Conspiracy
Prototype
Halo Wars
Fable 2
Ninja Gaiden 2
Banjo and Kazooie 3
Gears of War 2
Too Human
Viva Pinata 2

Not to mention there are plenty of arcade games that are worth buying, a few classics, some good puzzlers and a few good action/rpg types. I also left off all FPS games although there are several excellent ones that shouldn't be looked over unless you just hate the style all together. The 360 is hardly FPS only and its actually getting some amazing RPG exclusives, such as Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey and a few more which will be released soon such as Infinite Undiscovery and Tales of Vesperia.

Then again I know you probably don't care and I think the PS3 is a fine system too, just that the Xbox 360 has exclusives which are more to my taste with better online gaming and a much more expansive online marketplace.

I only listen games here that I have either played myself, watched a friend play or at least played through the demo/read many reviews.

If anyone wants to play with me at any time though, I am mostly playing COD4 online at the moment. Just put your XBL gamertag here or PM me. I play many other games as well, COD4 is just the one taking most of my online time atm.

Also I saw the new gameplay footage for MGS4 and was surprised that it actually looked horrible. The character looked really clunky, the AI was absolutely retarded and the movements were very rough. I guess I've just also never enjoyed a Metal Gear game but I really miss what the hype is about.

My biggest anticipated titles are actually Too Human, Left 4 Dead, Fable 2, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Gears of War 2. There are some amazing games coming out from now till Christmas, starting with Ninja Gaiden 2 in June.

how many of those games you listed are 360-exclusive and not shooters or racing games? (i'm not particularly hot on either)

games aside, the advantage the ps3 has over the 360 is the blu-ray drive and the playtv digital tv tuner/recorder that's due out in a few months. a 360 can't do those so, for me, the ps3 is a better deal

xbox is for violent, hormonally-challenged teens

The 360 will come out with a blu-ray drive before Christmas( I can almost guarantee) and there have also been rumours for an IPTV thing to debut sometime around the holidays as well. Even though thats not really important to me because I can stream any video I want with the 360 from my harddrive on the computer and having a tv tuner in the states is pretty much useless. So yea, if you're using the console more for tv and bluray as opposed to gaming, I'm sure the PS3 will treat you well. I'm just into the 360 for games, I don't buy enough movies to warrant owning a blu-ray player yet.

Also the games that are exclusives to the Xbox 360 are the best games on that last. Suck as Bioshock, Beautiful Katamari, Halo Wars, Civilization, Fable 2, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Ninja Gaiden 2, Left 4 Dead, Too Human, Banjo Kazooie and the Viva Pinata Games. I left two shooter games in there because they are way above any shooter standards.

For storing media the PS3 will always be superior until Microsoft decides not to completely rip people off on the HD pricing, or allow people to somehow install their own 3rd party HD's.

For storing media, you can stream all of that content straight from any external hard drive or USB drive. I can stream HD video straight from my harddrive, I have no reason to buy a larger drive from microsoft because I have no need to purchase video content directly from them. I can acquire content any way I like onto my harddrive and just use it from there. The PS3, Itunes, Cable and Direct TV all have comparable pricing on movie rentals and tv show purchases, its all overpriced. Also I believe all the games on PSN are equally priced to games on XBL. Maybe I'm just misunderstand you but I don't think the PS3 even offers near the content the 360 does yet? In the end neither are ideal for being a complete media center.
