birth control question fo' the ladies

so i've been on Mircette for about a month and a half...i was told that irregular bleeding was kind of normal for the first couple of months, but i've started bleeding pretty heavily mid-cycle, and by tomorrow it will have been about a week of that. should i chaulk it up to "irregular bleeding," or should i call a doctor or something? does anybody know anything about Mircette?

and start taking iron pills untill you get the BC figured out, all that extra bleeding and all.

yes, go see your doctor. I've never had that happen to me, however, i'm not on that type of pill.

No, I don't think that's normal. Or at least that sort of thing has never happened to me. One time I forgot to take my pill for a couple of days and bled for 2 weeks, though. Bah. I hate the pill. I'm switching to NuvaRing.

oh yeah, Guen, that's not normal, get a pill consultation. I had that happen to me and once I switched to a different pill, I was fine.

I had tons of problems with Mircette. I was only on it for two months...I just couldn't handle it.

what happened with you? the first month on it, i was completely fine...this is the only weird thing that's happened. i think i'm going to have to call the doctor if i haven't stopped bleeding by next week, though.

I had irregular bleeding, tons of migraines, tiny bruises all over my legs, and numbness in my legs. Now I'm on Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo and I have absolutely no problems...the only side effect I had was losing weight during the first couple of months.

According to my doctor, side effects usually last/occur during the first three months on the pill and then subside. Irregular bleeding is fairly common, but if you are bleeding heavily, I would call your doctor and try switching to something else.
