i'm usually pretty down with superhero movies but nothing about this seems very appealing to me. like people going apeshit for the trailers and they just look pretty meh to me.

This movie didn't seem like a prototypical Superhero movie. The Tony Stark character was genuinely fun to watch and root for.

ok first of all - there are very few good superhero movies

spiderman was dull - although well directed
the hulk was awful
batman was good

here's iron man link if anyone wants to watch it? i've watched 20 mins and it seems better than spiderman so far - but still crap

Blade, Hellboy, Batman, Batman Begins, Hulk, The Crow, X-men are better films and I guess the original Spiderman is on the same level. And if you are talking comic adaptions to films you can extend that list with Sin City, V for Vendetta, 300 (It's a 5/10 just about). These being just the big bucks films, there are plenty more obscure comic originated films.

In the Ultimate line (a marvel reboot of the whole universe) Nick Fury is a black guy since the Marvel Universe, and comics in general, is a bit bereft of black heroes. But yeah, he can totally pull it off. Nick Fury is a tough, no nonsense, mean muggin war vet.
