I prefer to buy humorous cards, since cards are lame and overrated; why not have a laugh in the meantime.

i like to make my own cards. that way it's a card and a present in one. make a collage and write a poem on it with a paint pen or something.

i dont like bought cards for a whole length of reasons, but if your asking my advice, make one yourself. forget the whole "cute homemade-card" concept. or contruction paper and marker. just do something immensly personal. not so much serious, but personal as in something that reflects you. colours you like, shapes and sizes you like. if i was making a birthday card for a girl, that i liked especially, id make it really big. like a big folded mat.

The best card I ever made for anyone was this one for my good friend Kristy who used to be obsessed with Tom Cruise. I found all of these pictures with Tom in it with another woman, and I put her head on the woman's body in each one, and out of the pictures I made a storyline/plot and wrote the story to go along with the pictures. She was laughing so hard she almost choked at dinner :erm

So if you're inclided on the computer, you might want to do the same for something she likes.

last year on my moms birhtday I gave her a card and on the outside it was a cartoon woman and it said, "guess who's pregnant!" my mom almost had a heart attack because she thought I was telling her me and the girlf where having a baby! :erm

thats a good idea. really. just make sure she actually doesnt have cancer or some other terminal disease, cause then youd be fucking yourself over really bad.
