Thumbs down i am an english major not a fucking spanish major.

yet here i am considering switching majors because i can't pass this fucking foriegn language class. the easiest foriegn language class there is.
what a load of shit.
at my school, if you are an english major you have to take two years foriegn language plus a foriegn language literature course. how will this help me improve my enlgish writting and grammer? I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA. THAT'S WHAT I WAS WONDERING MYSELF.
no matter how hard i try, no matter WHAT i do, i can't pass this goddamned class. i failed last quarter. i am failing this quarter. HOW AM I GOING TO PASS SPANISH 2C IF I CAN'T PASS SPANISH 1B?
goddamnit. i feel so stupid. i feel like i have brain damage. if there was some way i could get out of it ... anyway to get out of it, aside from suicide, i would do it. i want my degree. i want my fucking ENGLISH degree.
but no. no no no no no.
this is driving me insane. there are no tutors. I CAN'T FIND A FUCKING TUTOR ANYWHERE. i couldn't afford one even if i found one.

fuck.

/end nonsensicle, insanity induced frusteration rant.

hmm. spanish actually did teach me a lot about language in general, and made me much more aware of a lot of things we do speaking english.

I took 4 years in high school, though. maybe it wasn't as hard...

my english teacher last year did not know how to spell GRAMMAR.

learning another language is good....especially for an english major.

actually i can't spell for shit. ever :erm
i will admit that. sometimes i wonder if i have mild dislexia maybe? when i was younger i absolutely could NOT tell the difference between "b" and "d" until the first grade. and sometimes when i try to write the number "5" i write "F" instead. the opposite is also true... when i try to hand write words that begin with "f" i write a "5". so.... "5uck". wierd .

I have a friend here that does Spanish tutoring three days a week, and no one ever comes to see her. She would LOVE to tutor you.

But why would you step down the UC ladder to learn Spanish? I dunno.

woah dude that sucks, I'm sorry. Do you have any friends that are good spanish speakers that might be willing to help you or something? Have you talked to the teacher about it at all? I don't know. That really sucks though.

i talked to my teacher about it. she gave me some suggestions, some ideas for extra credit and the like. i think i have decided that i am going to try as hard as i possibly can, and hopefully she can help me with everything. i don't know. makes me feel like my head is going to explode

!'ve been taking spanish for 4 1/2 years. I'm only in 4th level now, but this last semester everything finally clicked and I'm getting my first A in spanish (and i'm fina;lly done with the requirment!!!)

anyway. I agree with the above. this is very very true. I knew very little about grammer, sentence structure, and verb tenses before I got to spanish, and my understanding is much deeper now. I think that having a second language required for an english major is a very smart thing to do, because it's easy to get through english writing and all without the deeper understanding that learning a latin based language gives.

keep chuggin' though it. you'll make it. don't drop a whole magor because of one setback.

Spanish is an absolutely horrible language, it sounds so barbaric and brutish.

That said, learning another language will help you understand how English works better. I know it did for me. In conclusion, attempt to switch from Spanish to Gaelic.
