Do you have to have residency to vote? Perhaps I can get in on this.

i do, since gordon brown is only PM due to blair resigning. i consider him a back-up prime minister rather than an elected leader, so its worth looking ahead to the next election already.

i honestly think the conservatives have their best chance in a long time to make a comeback. i like cameron's emphasis on social responsibility and green issues. i want tougher immigration policies and a crack down on people unfairly scrounging benefits off the government. blair did some good things in his time in office but he was weak and too liberal. people in this country have become irresponsible, and the less responsible they are, the less we can trust each other, the more backwards the law will become and the closer we'll get to that impending big-brother state which is already taking effect. britain's become a house party where the host has lost control, where everyone's stealing and wrecking the place while complaining that the beer's all gone. its ridiculous.

If I end up in Edinburgh, I think I'll support the Scottish separatists.

you and everyone else, apparently. the corruption bothers me too but the tories have been responsible for some of our greatest ever politicians. people will always take the soft option if you present them with one and thats what labour has been doing since blair arrived. this country has lost its pride and given in to drunks, yob culture, a sensationalist media world deluding the masses into thinking they'll all be rich and famous, criminals who claim to have been mistreated by their very victims and thus get shorter jail terms because the prisons are all overcrowded anyway, and a dangerously vast portion of immigrants who would rather live off benefits than do any work, force their own culture on the very country that is playing host to them, and then play the race card when someone puts a foot in and tells them they're not keeping up their end of the deal. its just scandalous, and labour have let it all happen.

britain will never again be the industrious, world-leading democracy it once was until someone steps up to the bat and just changes things- nobody is going to listen when nearly everyone's at fault in one way or another. and the longer we have to wait for that change, the burden will only get greater. the country is becoming screwed up to the point where an effective dictatorship is the only thing that will make a difference. and whilst i certainly can't see david cameron being the man for that job, i think he's probably the most honest and objective candidate out there right now. but he just doesn't have the attitude- gordon brown might have the charisma of a boulder but cameron is just too pink to be taken seriously. he's far too much of a public-school tory boy still. he'll need to be fearlessly tough if he's going to inspire any sort of confidence in his supporters.

i take from this that you want britain to be a world-leading democracy and this is why i will stop talking about politics with you in this thread

well I for one think that Gordan Brown hasn't even had long enough to be judged yet! All the critics are saying he's a nob but I think he's very clever - just nothing has really happened for him yet! It was strange how he jumped in after Blair - although I thought that was going to happen.

Rockin' Cherub do you know anything about British politics or are you just jaberwokin?

I think that all the parties are great in thier own way - but youre absolutely right - we just need someone with balls to step up and just sort it out! There are many problems with England - but it is not corrupt - not nearly as much as the US

All of the problems we face are reachable - if we stop faffing around. And I think "chavs" are becoming a big problem.. lol
