Default How is all your Pumpkins music organized?

I never thought I'd be that into the live stuff but I've got a ton now, and I'm not happy with how I've got it all set up.

I've currently got the collection split into 2 sections, one under "The Smashing Pumpkins" and the other under just "Pumpkins."

The Smashing Pumpkins Section...
- Adore
- American Gothic
- Gish
- Live Greatest Hits (Personal Compilation)
- Machina
- Machina II
- Machina III (Outtakes, some of the Machina II EP)
- Mellon Collie Disc 1
- Mellon Collie Disc 2
- Mellon Collie Disc 3 (some of TAFH, etc.)
- Pisces Iscariot
- Rarities and B-Sides (Personal Compilation, not the actual collection)
- Rotten Apples (Just the 3 non-album tracks)
- Siamese Dream
- Zeitgeist (with bonus tracks and Daydream and Superchrist)

The Pumpkins Section
- Gravity Demos (selected tracks)
- Live (This is where I have most of my stuff, just listed alphabetically. Do most of you have your live tracks organized by date? Even if you don't have the whole show?)
- Live 2008
- Live at Le Grand Rex
- Live at The AJ Palumbo Center (wanted the boot of the show I went to)
- Live at The Rock AM Ring
- Machina Acoustic (selected versions of album tracks)
- MCIS (selected demos)
- MCIS Instrumental (selected demos)
- Rarities and B-Sides (any and all alternate studio takes, b-sides, etc that I'm not all that crazy about)
- Residency Songs
- Siamese Dream Demos (selected tracks)
- Unreleased Acoustic (selected acoustic demos)
- Zeitgeist: AOL Sessions
- Zeitgeist: XM Sessions

(Final Count: 621 songs not including Zwan and BC Solo tracks )

So I'm interested in how you've got all your stuff organized. Your entire pumpkins collection, but your live stuff specifically.

similar to yours, on itunes all under genre 'billy corgan'
commercial releases (albums, ep's) under Smashing Pumpkins
bootlegs, interviews etc under Smashing Pumpkins live
zwan, complex etc all in billy corgan genre aswell, with an ipod it's just easier to find the conglomerate and all his affiliates.

people who still use the "random stack of cds" method are insane.

its 2000 and EIGHT man. I haven't touched a CD in months.

chronological order, all on CDs because I don't listen to music while on the computer, and I don't have an MP3 player/iPod. I'm so oldschool

All my CDs (except Zeitgeist) are in storage.
I have all my music ripped to MP3 and/or lossless WMA on my media centre (hooked up to hifi) and Zune (for in the car, at work, etc.)

I have split up both the Pumpkins and Zwan into normal and live (i.e. I have a 'Zwan Live' artist to separate the Zwan live shows from the studio stuff and the same with TSP).

All of my artists generally have an album called 'artist B-sides' where I put all the spare tracks. With the Pumpkins I have demos, remixes, etc. as separate albums.

There are some great recordings out there. If you want to try downloading some, join the Zomb torrent site. Lots of Pumpkins on there (and Zwan).

If you like Zwan I'd recommend downloading some of the better Zwan recordings. Their best material didn't make it onto the album, and they were a great live band.

I mainly download just DVDs. The concert from Rock AM Ring is an awesome DVD...dual-layer, pre-broadcast picture in widescreen...ultra-clear sound quality...better than most commercial concert DVDs I've seen.

Look under 'Smashing Pumpkins'. You can filter by DVD. There are a few versions. You can work out which is best for you.

ToEachesOwn, yours is the most accurate, pretty elaborate. Kudos. I tried to sort it that way in iTunes long ago but it looks really ugly. And do you really need a three digit system? They've been around nearly twenty years, I don't think Billy will ever get to #746 or anything. Will you revise your numbering system to fit the unreleased mountains of Zwan at any point?

i'm really satisfied with how my collection is orginized.
there are seperate folders for Zwan, the Pumpkins and Billy's solo projects.
then there are sub-folders within each.
(got all of the official releases on cds, but everything else is there).

As far as live recordings, once there are over a couple of songs from a specific
show, they get their own folder.

:-)
