Question Weird question about stretch marks...

Do they go away? Like if you get pregnant/gain a momentous amount of weight and say you give birth or loose the weight, do they stretch marks fade or just go away?

I know it's a weird question, but I'm just curious.

Not usually, the best way to get rid of stretch marks is to get coconut oil and constantly apply generous amounts for a long time. It keeps it moist and avoids the skin cracking and making it worse, and it helps heal them.

Serioulsy though, lotion lotion lotion. Make yourself moist! Every night I used to put lotion all over and it worked! ...although I've been neglecting it, it still helps a LOT. Coconut oil is supposedly the best though.

I'm such a lazy ass. I've been loosing quite a bit of weight and have noticed that the marks I had on my legs are fading, I was just wondering if they'd ever go away. My mother told me lotion/baby oil would work but I was so lazy I never paid much attention. Bah. I should have

I think that guy from the Subway commercials, Jared, had a big problem with loose skin after his Subway diet success. He had to get some of the skin clipped and tucked it was so loose. Not a good thing to think about while waiting in line at Subway while they are slapping ham onto the roll. ::shudder::

I'd like to believe there's a happy medium out there somewhere. And that is what I'm aiming for.

i don't see why you consider this to be a weird question regarding stretch marks. this is probably the most common question..

I meant weird as in ... it's strange to be talking about stretchmarks period. For me anyway... it's not a subject I talk about frequently.

See, I don't think I'm going to be worried that much about stretch marks after I have a kid, especially since I'm going to have three!

But kittens are nice too

I have these huge six inch horizontal stretch marks on my back. Blegh. And I'm not even overweight. In fact, I'm underweight, just too damn tall. Oh well. They're really disgusting, though. They make me look like I cut myself.

i have always wondered about jared the subway guy, he was 425 lbs and in one year he shrunk down to 190. i imagine he has really bad stretch marks.

i am happy to report that i have no stretch marks because my skin is so strechy

Stretch marks vary in severity-- the tendency to get them are actually hereditary, so if anyone in your immediate family has them bad, the chances that you will have them bad increase greatly.

They're permanent, but the other posters were right- there are creams available to lessen the appearance of them. A lot of athletes get them, as well, by the way. Most oftenly, they occur due to a growth spurt or the gaining or losing of weight, rapidly.
