Yeah what an asshole... he turned around a joke of a franchise and made them perennial contenders, and now is taking a better job where he doesn't have to play in a 45,000 seat stadium and instead plays in a place called the "Big House"

I bet Meeks left a job once for a better opportunity

... than West Virginia? Going from the Big East to a perennial national title contender in the Big 10 isn't a step up? Michigan doesn't get better recruits than West Virginia?

Seriously?

west virginia almost didnt make the national title this year? and havent been really good the past few years? obviously getting recruits isnt the difference, if this year has anything to say about it. if thats the case usc should win the championship each and every year.

stop buying into this stupid fucking prestige, it means less and less each year in college sports.

If he left last year for Alabama I would have understood and been OK with it but he continued to claim that he wanted to stay in WV throughout his career, signed an extension, and then left before the friggin BCS game...all behind WV's back. The anger isn't at the fact that he's leaving, it's how he snaked his way out of his home state. Why can't this wait until after the bowl game, it's only two and a half weeks away.

i went to Minnesota and if i had played football there and somehow became head coach, i would never leave because of my allegiance to my alma mater. i can say that with utmost confidence assuming that my salary was at least competitive relative to my success there, which rodriguez's certainly was.

I hope you're right about Mallett. It does seem like he's a bad fit for Rodriguez's system, and it's not like he's been a happy camper in Michigan. Hopefully, the stars are aligning for him to come back closer to home. It was bad enough for Arkansas to let him slip away the first time (he apparently wanted to be a Razorback, but Houston Nutt, in his infinite genius, tried to recruit the kid as a tight end instead of a QB, so he went elsewhere ).

And has anyone seen any of these rumors about Nick Saban putting out feelers to WVU? It'd be crazy if that scenario played itself out.

Apparently he's from WV, and he used to be an assistant there many years ago.

Regardless, I don't think there's anything to the rumors. Supposedly they started because Saban's agent was in touch with the WV people...but of course, Saban's agent represents a shitload of coaches. Still, it's kinda funny to think about.

Dick Rod definitely wasn't my first choice for Michigan's H.C. job, but he'll at least modernize scUM's offense. The hot rumor is Pryor is seriously considering Michigan, and if that is the case, then Richie will have a QB to run his offense (Ryan Mallet sucks). Michigan can run the spread with their current personnel...they've always had the talent, but Lloyd Carr's ultra-conservative offense never fully utilized Michigan's athleticism.

I'm not going to pass judgment until next season starts, but this might have been quite a boon for U of M. Michigan clearly needed a change in philosophy, and Rodriguez brings that to Ann Arbor.

... he won't follow a coach, he'll follow some guarantees. It's the school more than the coach.
