i miss that king/laker rivalry, despite admittedly being pretty dominated by the lakers.

now the kings don't even matter enough to have a rivalry, which is even worse.

game 6 in LA of that 7 game series with the kings up 3-2 had some atrocious refereeing, i still think the kings got screwed out of that game

i dont think you can ever really say that opposing teams had officiating stacked against them when they basically devised special exemptions for hammering on shaq, but that was an especially physical game

man shaq was such a badass, he was impossible to guard without sending him to the line

but the kings deserved to lose that series after how terribly they shot at the free throw line at game 7. and peja completely fucking airballing a wide open three that wouldve sealed the series.

I've tried blocked it out of my memory. I remember atrocious refereeing. But I think I also remember atrocious free throw shooting by the kings? I do distinctly remember a key phantom foul call on mike bibby guarding kobe at the end of one of those games that had me screaming bloody murder. Man, I really don't want to try to remember these sad memories. I'm reminded enough driving by Chris Webber's restaurant almost everyday.

i think this was at the end of game 6, bibby was planted down in the frontcourt and kobe knocked him down, and they called a defensive foul.

granted the block/charge call is one of the hardest in the game but that looked like pretty good positioning by bibby

and yeah, the kings were just fucking terrible from the line during game 7 particularly. something around 50% off 30 free throws. webber also got a retarded T in the 4th quarter.

kings also blew a 20+ point lead here.

divac was always a pretty heady player too, but he pretty much got the assist on that one.

the kings need to trade bibby and artest. right now as configured they're going to be stuck in mediocrity, a 30-35 win team, not good enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to get a stud draft pick. ugh. Still got a couple years to go on kenny thomas' nightmare contract.
