Default I'm agnostic but Christmas is a tradition

I tend to give Christmas gifts and accept Christmas gifts. Iit never occured to me that it doesnt follow my belief system until a friend of mine sarcastically mentioned it recently. I guess its because its just a tradition that has become ingrained.

Do your beliefs interfere with your holiday plans / celebrations? I dont really know any agnostic people in real life and my family is Christian for the most part.

I prefer not think about it. That way I don't have to deal with it.

Dont we all tend to do things without fully understanding why we do them? We kind of sleepwalk through life. Thats just the way it is.

Christmas doesn't have to be about Christ. I know that sounds wrong by definition but there is also a secular tradition of gift giving on the same day so I have no qualms with it. Beside, Christmas was built on pre-Christian pagan celebrations and other winter solstice observations. So it really is just a mish mash of traditions and cultures, why not throw the secular aspect in as well. "Christmas" is just a label but "Holidays" is better and more all-encompassing.

yup... christmas is just a bunch of pagan celebrations that the priests decided to attach 'christ' to it so they could benefit

When I was a wee boy I thought Santa Clause was like the VP of God/Jesus.... that he gets promoted to God/Jesus when he dies.

Seriously, that's what I thought for some reason...that this was the hierarchy of the heavenly government.
