females doesn't have more chromosomes producing proteins than males. in each cell, one x chromosome is shut off so you get a mosaic of cells.of course, even if both x chromosomes were active in all cells, it wouldn't necessarily be better (see downs syndrome comment). where did you get that idiotic quote catherine wheel?
