Stacey, I'm surprised you like them so much. I can't help but make an analogy with prison whenever I think of one.
Yeah I just see it from a different perspective.

I can understand your perspective, especially in the case of polar bears. Conservation IS an important thing, but I don't think zoos are the greatest way of maintaining it. I would prefer to visit a wildlife conservation where the animals are in a controlled and natural habitat, i.e., not an urban sprawl of conrete and trash cans.

I guess the way I look at it is that it's wrong in the sense that, if the animals had a choice, there's no way they'd sit in a cage 24/7 being ogled at by a bunch of people. And since they obviously don't have a choice, my problem lies there. I don't think people who visit zoos are bad or stupid or whatever, though... I just don't personally get as much enjoyment. Can't push the bad thoughts outta my head, I guess!

I don't know if you can relate to this, but I'm always bummed out that the two-toed sloth at the Lincoln Park zoo is MIA. I don't know if it escaped or what, but every time I've been there, it hasn't been in its tree in the small mammal house.

the toronto zoo is absolutely amazing. they have these HUGE exhibits that take forever to walk to.

my favourite was the black footed ferret:

and pryzwalski's wild horse:

Size: 287 hectares (710 acres). One of the largest zoos in the world.

I don't know, but I hate Lincoln Park zoo. I mean, the lagoon is pretty and all that, but the zoo itself sucks ass. The thing probably got sick and died and they just flushed him down the toilet. That's what kind of zoo I think they are.

Well yeah, but did you read my whole thing about how we don't really have access to that and the average idiot won't go there, they'll take their kid to the zoo on a free day because it's accessable and then that gives those kids a chance that they would've never had before.

I can see the pros and cons, I just feel the pros far outweigh the cons.
