Default Homesick Blues

I'm 22, I'm from California, and I moved to Pennsylvania. It's been a month already and I still miss home (friends, family...I guess it's a given).

Anyone ever move across the country from their hometown? How did you feel?

Sounds like an activity someone in PA would enjoy.

5 years and I've felt the pangs of homesickness maybe thrice. And it never lasted more than 5 minutes.

Not particularly, but thanks.

It has nothing to do with "growing balls" or "manning up". I was just so set in my ways in Los Angeles. I don't get to see whoever I want to see, or go the places I wanted to go. I left to get away from everything, but those are the details you tend to overlook when you move.

Yeah, pangs of homesickness usually don't last for me too long either. Just when something is significantly different like the job or people I come across. At the end of the day, I'm glad I'm here.

Although I've never moved across the country, I'm from California myself and we've been contemplating moving to an inland state after we graduate college and just the thought of it can seem exciting yet terrifying. Living in California is fantastic and it'd be weird to not be more than a few hours away from the ocean (or five minutes, in my case).

Though I do agree that some degree of it does have to deal with "sacking up." That's probably not the best term for it, but it's only been a month, man! Relax.
