Default itt: we talk about electric cars!!!!

I understand why GM would discontinue production of the EV1. i doubt that a viable market for it really existed....but why would they need to refuse to extend leases and take all the cars back and destroy them?? what purpose does that serve??

ugggh no seriously guys

i'm trying to present this as a clearly two-sided issue, but i have no explanation for the destruction of the vehicles.

but even if they had the most vindictive motives possible........why destroy the cars?!

were they worried people would see them on the roads and be all 'OMG I WANT ONE!!'

because i don't think that would actually happen.

i guess i didn't look hard enough...

"We did what we felt was right in discontinuing a vehicle that we could no longer guarantee could be operated safely over the long term or that we would be able to repair."

but ANYWAY, if i was loaded, i think i'd buy one of these: http://www.teslamotors.com/

i drove a two-seater with not much more storage space than that thing for over two years and never had a problem.

techincally it had a backseat, but i used it maybe twice. i don't know why you have to be so pessimistic about that car. it seems like it would be fun as hell to drive and would take people where they need to go.

You don't have a family, or a job, or anything of the sort. They are about as practical as jock straps for women.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh

obviously a family could not use it as their goddamn family car. i know i don't have a family. but i said that I would buy one. and there are plenty of other people in the world that could use it. i don't see why a family couldn't have their minivan or sedan or suv or whatever for when they needed it in addition to something like the tesla car.

if they're loaded, that is.

But see, dude, if they made them where a family could use them you might be able to afford one when you're fresh outta school.

See, but since they haven't done that, you'll be paying $150,000 for a car that you can drive on a Sunday afternoon.

well just for one example, both of my parents could currently drive that car on a daily basis and not run into any problems. they would obviously need something else for certain occasions, but they really could drive it 90% or more of the time.

i'm assuming you could too, right? how often do you transport more than one other person or a bunch of crap you need to put in your trunk?

It's because when you were born, you were wrapped in a scaly black cocoon filled with pus. Your mother had to gnaw it off you.

Good luck on the paper!
