no. i don't bet on anything though.

nascar would be tough to bet on though because there are so many unforeseen problems that can pop up. you know, you can blow an engine, break a fuel pump, get caught up in someone else's accident. so yeah, i don't think i would.

I didn't exactly see this lap pass, but I felt it. I felt an inexplicable wave of boredom pass through my body, and my only thought was, wow, there must have just been a lap pass by jeff gordon somewhere.

Why NASCAR runs races on Sunday afternoons during football and playoff baseball season is beyond me. It's abso-fucking-lutely retarded.

when else would they do them? i suppose you could make an argument for moving all of them to saturday, but then it's still up against baseball and college football. they can't run them in the middle of the week because then i doubt they would sell out.

i mean really. what the hell else do you want them to do??

Saturday isn't against the ratings juggernaut that is Sunday NFL football. They really have no choice since their season lasts 10 months or whatever I guess though.

nah it's only 9 months man.

but the nfl is the only league that consistently outperforms it in ratings. it went head-to-head with the NBA one sunday over the summer and crushed it. it will never compete with the NFL. nothing will.

....wait, i might be thinking of a sunday when the NHL actually beat the NBA.

but i'm pretty sure NASCAR beats both the nba and the nhl pretty soundly.

really, that video is beyond ignorant. i know it's the onion, but it's so inaccurate that the humor just isn't there.

and this is kind of irrelevant, but the influx of attractive drivers over the last 4 or so years is interesting.

and in 2004 i called the winner 5 races in a row. its not hard. just pay attention to qualifying, practice, and pre race attitudes in the garage and you should have a pretty accurate bet.
he shot up the entire width of the track. he makes that move about .0000001 seconds later, and he wrecks himself and stewart. perfect timing, perfect execution. if that doesn't impress you then i'm not sure what would. yeah, people make great moves at plate tracks, but that doesn't detract from them.

and predicting winners will always be iffy. plate tracks have the potential for accidents. kenseth has been good enough to win the last four weeks and has absolutely nothing to show for it.

i don't get it. my wife LOVES this nascar stuff. it's pretty boring for me, although i do have a healthy respect for the technology and engineering that goes into the cars themselves.

also....jeff gordon is a dickhead.

i know, but it's a massive fanbase that is basically going untapped. i understand why they ignore the NHL, because the fanbase is so small. but NASCAR is huuuuge and they're only hurting themselves with their shitty coverage of it. NASCAR Now is unwatchable.

i really wish Fox would just tell everyone else to fuck off and do the whole season. that crew is far and away the best of the three, and it is fucking criminal that they don't get to do the chase. arggggh.

third guy? andy petree? jerry punch? punch is solid enough. petree's voice makes me want to kill myself.

DW, macreynolds, and mike joy are all excellent. and i wish the networks would just use that crew for the whole season.
