I like the hopeful tone at the end.

I don't want the government in my health care decisions. Period. Not for me or my child.
I have seen my fair share of government run health care clinics, and if that is the future of NHC, no thank you.

So you're not opposed to the option, then?

I'm not opposed to people getting NHC if it's going to actually treat people like they are human beings. Everyone should have health care. Although I disagree with some of the mandatory treatments that come with medicaid/medi-cal for children, they need to leave this program alone. It works fine for those who need/want that option.

God forbid something happens where you can't afford insurance. Life IS shitty without it.

Well nobody's going to run into a room and say 'ha, you're covered by this medical insurance SO YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THIS TREATMENT' and stab your child with a syringe. I don't know if refusal to undergo certain treatments can void your coverage (if that's what you're getting at), but at least the option of coverage is there and that's the idea of this bill - providing it for the children who don't have it

As far as I know, medicaid and medi-cal specify required well-child check ups, and a vaccination schedule. If you don't follow their plan, they can remove your child from the program.

It is a good program for those who want this type of care, however it too is starting to slip in some states. Take Missouri for instance, they have revamped it and they do not cover all treatments for children. You cannot get them to completely cover treatment for say.....a child dying from cancer. They also have stopped full coverage on most medications and require a co-pay.

I don't care if states want to do it (although I would still argue against it) but the Federal Government has no authority to do this.
