i went to get the mail and there were two letters for me. i opened the first one and it was a huge card that everyone in the eighth grade had signed. i almost started crying reading some of the stuff people wrote. and they put a picture of my shoes on there...for some reason it made me laugh for a long time. the second one was a sweet letter from my english teacher.

sorry, i know you don't give a shit, but i thought it was really really nice.

I'm always too cynical to accept that kind of sympathy. It feels forced... but then, what sympathy isn't?

That's a stupid thing to say. I wonder how horrible your life must be if you think all sympathy is forced.

i'm friends with enough of the people that i think the vast majority of it isn't forced, i'm happy to say.

i'm glad i'm not that cynical yet.
