I've been reading miss world's thread and I"m getting a whole bunch of mixed feelings. I was just thinking. Just because there is a lacking of physical aspect to it (seeing a person face to face) doesn't mean that there isn't sort of a union with minds and personalities coming together and sharing thoughts, opinions, and so on.

I don't know about you, but I've thought of a world of only minds existing. No bodies, just souls, for the lack of a better term. That's kind of like what the internet is, sometimes.

Although some people do take the internet lightly, at the end of the computer is a real live person with thoughts and feelings. A PERSON. The internet desensitizes people, make it seem like it's okay to put others down. There's a degree of anonymity, and people take it and uses it as an excuse for it to be okay to treat others like shit. Yes, sometimes the internet is an escape from real life, but when others show hurt and pain, why can't others show some decency, or at the very least shut the fuck up.

One time, I was IMing my boyfriend one day, and we got into an arguement and he made me cry. OVER THE INTERNET. There were other times when I've been IMing with people I've NEVER MET, but that I only know through online that have made me cry because they said something stupid, or I took something the wrong way.

But whatever, it's the internet. I'm ranting. I just have a jumble of emotions from that thread of Stef's. I really do feel terrible FOR her. I know it's never going to affect me the same as if I were to know her in real life. But that doesn't mean that I'm not going react and be as considerate about such a delicate situation as I possibley can be, given that I am just an internet persona.

Look, I'm not looking to be all some "noble, higher than thou" person. Certain things make me sad, be it someone's tragedy or the way people can be so inconsiderate.
