aahhh, he's alright. but thanks. the kid has been through hell and back, so a few bumps from a moving vehicle haven't had much of an effect. well, other than to cause him to start drinking more beer than usual. he's also 6'6", so he probably did more damage to the car, than the car did to him.

bikes aren't for the sidewalk... I'm pretty sure that would be a traffic violation

if you can't go more than 15 MPH you don't belong in the street.

I agree about the bike enthusiasts, it's like one day every hipster in America decided to get a bike and hock their pants up two notches. It sucks because now it's become an essential part of your hipster image and I was *this* close to buying one.

I don't have a car and need to get around and the bus is getting ridiculous.

Mississippi is a shithole but Birmingham, AL is a technopole, and in general Alabama has a pretty large high tech industry.

i think the specific you're looking for is rural southerners

give it up, ihaman. you know you want to embrace being a dirty bike kid.

the people who live in the apartment below me are all biker weirdos. everytime i come home, the window is open, and i can see 8 or 9 kids laying around like they just got done with some kind of sweaty coke orgy. hawt.

maybe their attitude or demeanour is insufferable but they are in the right here. its like people who donate blood or give money to charity and act all smug about it -- the smugness is merely unlikable, it doesnt really diminish the actual good all that much (unless they only did it to be able to preach).

that seems silly. i could imagine no motorized vehicles on sidewalks, but normal bikes are harmless.

actually bike-people accidents on sidewalks are a pretty major thing. i forget the figures but i think it rivals or exceeds bike-car accidents. they dont rival in severity, surely, but they are a big safety thing. i always feel guilty biking on the sidewalks and, honestly, biking on the road isnt that bad, i only hate it on rough industrial roads and shit like that, where trucks barrel right by you inches from your arm

must be different in Canada. i was raised never to bike in the street and always on the sidewalk. now that i am older i see all these kids and adults in the street- it just warps my mind.

its not so dangerous, you can go faster, youre not endangering pedestrians, whats not to like? i still say there should be bike lanes on any street that has enough bike traffic to demand it, and even those without that traffic if a bike lane will allow/encourage it. i feel much better in a bike lane than in any other situation, theyre fabulous.

Some asshole nearly hit me with a minibus at a concert once. So I punched the side of his bus. He got out of the bus and asked "Did you hit my bus?" to which I responded "Yeah." He then said "Don't touch my bus!" and I yelled back "Then don't fucking hit me with it!" So he said "Get the fuck out the way, then," and I called to him as he climbed back into his driver's seat "Ha ha! That's your job!"
