but yeah it was pretty

i walked in expecting to like it but ended up loving it.

yeah he is pretty repulsive, but the character's supposed to be super duper repulsive and that just adds to the repulsiveness.

i walked into the theatre with some guy friends at the time. i thought it was gonna be a stupid action movie or something, but it wasn't. i ended up liking it a whole lot.

oh, and i liked face/off at the time. i'm not a fan of action movies, in general, but i liked that one.

john woo is THE MAN
windtalkers and hard targer sucked.
broken arrow and the better tomorrow trilogy were ok.
the killer, hard boiled, m:i-2 and face/off were awesome (all of which i have on dvd). face/off being the best non chow yun fat john woo film. everything about it is perfect
to graveflower and any other john woo fans -- you rock. a book i learned a lot from and rather enjoyed about the man was "ten thousand bullets" by christopher heard.

oh, man, john woo is like the worst director ever. maybe his films are alright in chinese when he doesn't just jerk off to the explosions, but he CANNOT direct actors. MI-1 was tolerable, but MI2 was just wrong. just wrong.

any man who can make both john travolta and nick cage act like they're fresh outta acting school is simply equatable to george lucas.

that's what I find enjoyable about Face/off is Travolta and Cage just CHEWING scenery. Its like they're taking bites of drywall they ham it up so much, its great. Basically they are both are doing exaggerated impressions to the nine-millionth degree of eachother and it works in the style of the film.

Travolta isn't really "good" in any sense of an acting term (read: subtlety) but he can be nice and hammy which I always enjoy.
