Thats great, at least you have another to keep you pre-ocupied thats the main thing. Both are beautiful btw!

IIRC, you took him in at a pretty late age though, correct?

Yes we should Sorry I've been flakey about it but things have been a little crazy, as you can see. We're going out of town for the weekend but maybe next week while I'm still on vacation from work or even the following weekend?

I'm sorry to make you cry but thank you. We're just hoping Simon stays healthy for a long long time. My heart can't handle this for a while.

Actually no. We got him and the vet that took him in said he was about 1-2. We figured he was more like 3-4 and the vet last week said he was probably closer to 5. That's still way too young for a dog to get kidney failure like that so seriously...she said it was probably genetic - bad breeding.

Maybe I got him confused with Bitey or Bitey 2. I had never heard of this dog before.

This was Jack (about 15yrs old)...the original, one and only Bitey. He was put down because of cancer tumors in his organs - last September.

This is Bo (about 12yrs) - she was put down because of lymphoma in February. And Odie, who was about 5.

And this is Simon...he's about 1-2 years, and hopefully he'll be around for a long time.

my pup laying on my pink floyd PJ pants

That picture still makes me smile. We put him to sleep May 2 of this year. Since November he had the shakes now and then; we still don't know what from. Things got worse... he wouldn't eat. For about four months we had to hand-feed him special food to get his strength up so he could walk around. But he mostly just laid behind our living room chair the last few months of his life. his back leg went limp, but he got around pretty well. He would have turned ten on June 6th. I will never forget one night... I put him up on my bed to sleep with me because he just stood there staring at my bed. So after a while, he started shaking and I started crying becuase I had that dog since I was six years old--over half my life, of course. He literally scooted his way up so he was laying his head on my pillow next to me. He would rub up against my side and whine until I turned on my side and put my arms around him. He wouldn't stop whining until I rubbed his belly. It was so HUMAN that it just felt unreal. It wasn't a dog thing to do... especially for my dog. He generally stayed at the foot of our beds. It was unreal. When I woke up, he had already gotten off my bed.

When he wasn't getting any better, Mom talked about putting him down, but we wouldn't let her. One day, his front leg went limp as well. my dad had to carry him outside to use the bathroom. Mom made an appointment at the vet's for the next day.

When we put him to sleep, my dad was the only one who didn't stay in the room. He kissed his head and said, "Bye, buddy," then went back to the car. (When we got back to the car after it was over, his face was red). I was petting his head and digging my knuckle into his ear like he loved. My sister was holding him in her arms and my mom was rubbing his belly.

I was amazed at how quick it was. I'm so so sorry you had to go through this. It's the hardest thing I've ever done, and no one can understand unless they've gone through it, too. Maybe not even then.
