Default birth control/period advice... girly post

so about a week ago i accidently forgot to take my birth control for 2 days and my period started the next day. my best friend said it'll probably last until i finish this set of birth control... does anyone have any experience with this? cause it hasnt lightened up at all and its the 7th day and normally mine only lasts 5 days or so.

and also if i were to go ahead and stop taking this pack and start another pack in a week would that make the birth control significantly less effective? i really dont want to have my period for 3 weeks. thats just nasty and aggravating. and thats a hell of a lot of blood to lose.

so does anyone have any experience with this type of stuff?

HELP!

I know my wife freaks out when this happens and she keeps taking it , so you are best to keep doing it.

I also know now would not be a very good time to be around you , most girls i know get all right now

nah, dont worry about it. it happens to me occasionally.

take your pills as you normally would. use a condom for the 7 days after you take your 1st pill.

um... it really depends on what pills you are actually taking. when you open up the pack of pills there should be a little booklet inside that contains things like side effects, ingrediants and instructions.
but if i was you i would have not taken anymore pills until my period ended. then i would have opened a new pack and started over again. i would also use a condom until i finished that pack, just in case.
but yeah. that's what i would have done. so maybe you should stop taking the pills and wait for your period to finish. then open up a new pack. and buy some trojans.

That sounds normal...at least from my experiences. Just keep on taking the pills as you normally would. Don't start a new pack. But, if you want, you could skip your period, i.e. don't take the placebo pills, this time around and just start a new pack after you've reached the end of the active pills.

I have heard bad stuff about Alesse. Thankfully I think that is the one pill I haven't tried. But Tricyclen fucked me up, too. The only ones that haven't screwed me completely were Nordette and I'm almost finished with my first month of Cyclessa and that is working fine so far, as well.

i was taking ortho-cyclen (not TRIcyclen, just regular bi type cyclen), and i really loved it. the only thing i hated was going into the doctor to get it refilled, and i would tell them i was on ortho-cyclen, and they would hand me the refills for tricyclen. it always added an extra 15 minutes to my doctor visit.
but those pills were awesome. i got my period for three days when i was on them, my boobs grew from a B to a C cup, i gained NO wieght whatsoever, i never had cramps, my skin cleared up overall, and i didn't get pregnant (which was the goal!).
when i first started taking the pills they gave me bloodclots, which is a really really bad thing, but i didn't go into the doctor for it (which i REALLY should have!!!!!), and i just kept taking the pills and soon the blood clots went away.
but i digress. i ended up getting off of those wonderful pills after being on them for about 13 months, because 14 pills into a new pack i all of a sudden got my period, full on. it was about 2 weeks early and the night before i had just had condomless sex. i fucking freaked. i went into the gyno and she said that my pills had probably stopped working.
it was too much of a scare for me, and i stopped taking them that day. i would rather not have a false sense of security. thinking that i don't need a condom when i really do .
but you know i still have a lot of those refills laying around here (about 12 packs!) and i am very much considering getting back on it again.... just so i can get my C cup back

Yeah, that happened to me once. I'm on nordette and I forgot to take my pill for a couple days and I started bleeding, which is very strange for me. Usually nothing happens. I kept taking my pills and it went away after a couple weeks. Man, what a bitch that was.

Eeek, is that true? I thought Nordette was one of the lower dose pills. That's scary because I have a hard time remembering to take them and I especially forget when I stay at someone else's house cos there isn't a big sign on the wall reminding me to take it. I don't want any babies! I was thinking of switching pills just from that one incident, and I'm not too happy about the weight I gained on it, even if it's only a few pounds. I've heard good things about Yasmin. I wonder if I should.

Yeah. Alesse. Though I don't weigh myself anyway, so I wouldn't know for sure.

I like alesse far better than i did Diane 35.

I get my period much earlier and it doesn't last as long.

I hated taking my last pill on the sunday and having to wait all the way until saturday to get my period.

Diane 35 made my skin a lot better, but the pros of Alesse outweigh the cons of Diane 35, so, i think i'll stick with it.

Plus, Alesse is far more cheaper than Diane 35. About half the cost, to be exact.

it's all about depo. bone loss? eh. who needs it?

bone density is a small price to pay for never having your period or crazy mood side effects and gaining little to no weight. No pills, just a shot every three months.

alesse has made me gain about 10lbs since november and its made me have weirdass mood swings though it wasnt that bad. didnt really lighten my period much which sucked. i mentioned it to my doctor so i have a new prescription for yasmin which is supposedly really good and is proven to be less likely to make you gain weight. so hopefully that will work better for me.

i really dont want to bleed for another week or more or even for another day at all. its just gross and annoying. and ugh. i hate it. i hate periods. i guess that should teach me a lesson about remembering to take my pills.

i think im just gonna stop these pills and wait for my period to stop then start yasmin the sunday after. i really cant bleed like this anymore. its making me ill. though i really havent been pmsing too bad... just bad cramps.

boo for periods.

I lost weight when I started on the Ortho-Tricyclen.

And for those who have had problems with Ortho-Tricyclen, try the new Ortho-Tricyclen Lo...it has a lower dose of estrogen...I love it.

my doctor told me that Alesse had a lower dosage of estrogen than Diane 35 did. I don't know if it has lower doses than the others though.

AS for the depo shot, i'd much rather get my period once a month and know that i'm in the clear than never get it and be wondering.

i'm paranoid like that.

It seems to me that most people in this thread would be a lot better off if they were on depo because no once seems to be able to remember to take their pills every day. If you get the depo shot you are less likely to get pregnant than on the pill because there is less possiblility for error on your part. But maybe everyone here would forget to get their depo shots too. I've been on ortho cyclen for about a year and I only missed it once and I followed the directions on the package and took 2 the next day. I know how much I'd hate to get prgnant, so I prioritize taking it regularly and on time. I can't understand how others are so bad about it. And all of this self-diagnosing and "if I were you I would..." makes me nervous, too. Call your doctor or read the instructions. Don't believe some girl on Netphoria who knows no more than you, and definitely don't guess about what you should do! If you don't want to make a baby, take it very seriously. I hate to sound preachy but everyone sounds way too nonchalant to me.

i thought that if you miss more than 2 you are supposed to throw away those pills, wait a week, then start a new pack.. it should say in your little pamphlet you get with them...

im on marvelon... its some pill from the UK.. it works great.. i've been on both alesse and tricyclen and also had no problems except spotting so my doc put me on these and they are great.

Girls girls girls.

Buy a watch with a built in alarm. Set alarm for a convenient time. When alarm goes off, TAKE YOUR FUCKING PILL.

Word. And as far as Depo goes, I've practically written a thesis on here about why you shouldn't take it, but this time I'm going to settle for BE A FUCKING IDIOT IF YOU WANT BUT DON'T SAY I DIDN'T TELL YOU SO.

"Oh, but it's so cheap and easy!" And so are you, apparently. I feel like pulling a noyen and calling everyone tacoheads because there's nothing else to be done.

Hmm, well some of us have fucked up sleeping/life schedules and for those of us without a daily routine, it is a little bit difficult sometimes to remember. Everytime I see a pregnant lady or a baby or think about sex, that is usually a good enough reminder. And taking depo is horrible. From the things I've read/heard, I'd rather get pregnant. And that's saying a lot.
