Default Have you ever returned faulty goods to the manufacturer?

(this was semi-inspired by bluestar's thread.)

when you look at a lot of packaging, it states that if you have any problems with the product, send "the complete" product back to them with the details of where you bought it.
you often hear of how beneficial it is to complain or send stuff back to the manufacturer as they often give you some kind of compensation.
Like a years supply of ink, or something.

Has anybody tried this? What did they offer you in return?

But a lot of the time, it's not always the best thing to do.
in effect you're losing your evidence and your best chance for compensation (especially if you've suffered injury) from the 'seller' - the shopkeeper (rather than the manufacturer) as he is under obligations not to sell junk.

one of my teachers was telling a story about how one of his female clients used a hair dying product and it basically ruined her hair perminantly.
so yeah, any stories?..

more like till it grows out, of course.

i've returned plenty of defective products, but none of them have ever caused trouble/injury to where i needed them as proof. the only compensation i can think of is the ol' "we're sold out of that item now, prolly won't have it in stock again...we'll give you the newer model/model above this.

yeah that's a pretty good one, unless the old model did something the newer one didn't do.
Then i'd be like:

some people have a habit of complaining about petty issues in order to get some kind of deal, by making them sound like major problems.
I was watching some tv documentary about what happened when the coca-cola company changed it's formula.
One woman was saying that 'coke' was like a personal thing to her, a part of her life, and the change would ruin her childhood memories..

you didn't meet the 'satisfactory quality' and 'fitness for purpose' requirement.

Red face

Hm. Although often times I THOUGHT of sending shit back, I never did. I would want to, but I also didn't feel like wasting money on shipping and handling, b/c I wouldn't be quite sure if I would get back that money, or get compansated on that. Plus, it's work and a fucking pain in the ass.
