Default has anybody here ever worked as a bike courier?

I was talking to one today. He was saying that the work is physically fairly demanding but he makes AU$200 a day sometimes. Thats a shitload compared to what i do at the moment. so he gave me a card and i'm thinking of calling them.

Has anybody done this/knows anybody who has done this? cause i've heard people say its really hard and then i've heard other people say its great fun.

I suppose it depends mostly on your physical abilities. It might suck in bad weather, but otherwise it sounds good.

Yeah, your fitness level and the climate you'll be working in really dictate what it'll be like. edit: also the area. Glasgow town centre is busy and pretty hilly, very polluted. Whereas down here in blackpool it's all flat and the roads are much less congested.

Anyone i knew who was a bike courier ALWAYS seemed to sell drugs as well. not at work, just in general.

i would love to do this.

too bad there is nowhere in missouri that would ever need a bike courier, enough to make it a living.

so you know the maximum is 200... what's the minimum your friend would make in a day?

quota is 30 deliveries a day (after which you're no longer required to work but can choose to continue) at $2.50 a delivery which makes $75 a day.

word.

well shit, that's not bad i guess... that's 375 a week, just short of 20 grand a year, assuming you work every weekday in a year.

but... how much work is there?

I actually thought about taking a job as a bike courier just a few days ago.
I need exercise anyway, plus I'd finally get to know this city.

But that's probably never gonna happen.

I have lots of friends who've done this, and each one of them has broken something at some point in time or gotten into some kind of horrific accident. It's pretty dangerous, as far as I've heard.

Yeah that too. All the friends I've ever had who've done it have always had an air of superiority wafting from the pores in their oversized heads.

oh man, that is EXACTLY the same impression i get. there must be something empowering about riding around with your pants cuffed and your headband turning brown.

Ahhhahah. There's this one guy around town who isn't a courier, nor do I know him, but he rides his bike everywhere and always has his chain-side pant leg rolled all the way up to his knee. We used to see him at basketball games or a restaurant or what-have-you all the time, with his pant leg still rolled up and strutting around like he was the first genius that decided to ride his bike everywhere instead of walk or drive. Chris would always look at me with an and wonder out loud if anyone's ever told him what a dumbass he looks like.
