I have a lot of respect for anyone who works in a shelter. It nearly broke my heart when I adopted Luna that I had to leave some other dogs behind.

Man she is a sweet dog. One week in and we've been 3 days since an accident inside. She already knows how to sit and lay and we're working on the stay and come here commands. I hit the pound puppy jackpot

I've gone around on that a few times. She already has put on a little weight and grown into her face. It isn't looking as boxish as it did when she was skinny. The only pit behavior she's shown is a vicious streak while playing tug o' war but it doesn't fringe into food aggression.

i had to drop the idea of working with animals when i realized how retarded i am at chem & bio- i wanted to be a marine biologist/zoologist. some of my high school friends are doing it now and i can't help but feel real jealous :/
i have worked at a vet and a pet store and volunteered at a humane society and the zoo.. i have played with the idea of getting a job at a vet/petstore again on the weekends/at night but i know i'd be killing myself with my job now.
i do miss it though

There's two different types of labs, English and American. The English labs look a lot like pits and they're real strong like pits. American labs are the ones we all know. English are a lot stockier and have more muscle - my Mom thought she had a pit until she read up on it...her dog who only comes up to your knee is almost 90lbs and tore a metal chain right in two without breaking her stride.

So she may just have a bit of English Lab in her. Either way, doesn't matter - mutts are great

no, within a week of adopting him we realized he was completely deaf. also, the person i was living with at the time, her cancer started coming out of remission leaving me the sole working caretaker of the dog. it was going to work well to tame a crazy ass terrier mix, but the poor thing was deaf.

also, i realized it was best that i never had a dog.

Sorry to hear things aren't working out man. Conversely, my dog is still kicking tons of ass. She weighs 24lbs now (that's twice what she was when I adopted her). I had to bump her up to a bigger kennel the other night as she was too big for the other one and rubbed a couple of small bald spots onto her head while sleeping.
