Default I may play in an emo band

I forgot the name of the band, but this kid saw me with my bass at school and said 'Dood, my band really needs a bass player.'

And I said 'Call me!' and I have him my phone number, which is really easy to remember. 363-NUTS

How cool is that?!@?!

Default let's put a disclaimer and say "SURE THAT IZ COOL", BUT--

Emo is such a horrible genre of music. It makes me cry and spurt blood and nails out of my ears. I want them to stop thinking they are punk pop brit kids with souls and talent. Please don't do it.

It's a subgenre of punk (or the bastardisation thereof) that's more 'emotional' than 'regular' punk. I hate the name, but I like a few emocore bands. They rock.

Seriously: don't do it. I know it's a gig, but frankly, I was in an emo band for two and a half years and I was glad to be out of it when I left. It wears on your soul after a while, it really does.

Don't even try to tell me that SDRE is representative of the quality of 99.9% of that genre. I'd be loathe to even put then in that godawful category. So shut the fuck up

I think I'm just upset b/c my pseudo-boyfriend made me listen to a lot...and I mean a LOT of that shit. If what I was exposed to was the quintessential EMO MUSIC, then I hate it. Otherwise, shut the f-- I mean give me some examples of such great bands so I can listen to them.

some of this will sound a lot more like hardcore than trite disposable crap like the get up kids to your ears. if you dont like heavy music chances are you wont like some of it. but who knows.

band and song:
Moss Icon - "As Afterwards the words still ring"
Rites of Spring - "For want of"
Indian Summer - "Angry Son"
Native Nod - "High Tide in Alaska"
Texas is the Reason - "Back and to the left"
Embrace - "end of a year"
I hate myself - "not waving but drowning"
Moss Icon-- Listened to "Gravity" instead (note: I'm trying to get stuff from Kazaa lite here. And my firewall blocks a big chunk of choices). This song is pretty cool. No huge analyzation necessary.

Rites of Spring--"For Want Of" Very interesting vocals that for some ungodly reason remind me of Bruce Springsteen after smoking all day long. Musically is lacking much of any punch for me. Not horrible, but not amazing either.

Indian Summer-- "Angry Son" This is one of those songs that try to trick you into turning up the volume for the first few minutes, but it didn't get me. So far no generic "emo" traits that I've been exposed to. *waits* Ok now we're back to the interesting buzz-mumble. Ah, the vocals have arrived, and it reminds me of a mom having a mental breakdown. The irritating factor is high, but I always prefer that to the mundane. Not a bad first listen.

Native Nod--couldn't find anything

Everything else, "more sources needed". :\

Emo is the most annoying category tag ever.
