Default ST#5432435 bands/artists you've met.

I'm a dork and still get a kick out of meeting bands. I've met:

Smashing Pumpkins x3 (Billy x4)
Sleater-Kinney
Local H
Dave Grohl
Art Alexakis
God Lives Underwater
Feeder
Litany (x2)
Living Colour (my friend's band opened for them.)
Fuel (2 of my friend's bands opened for them.)
Caroline's Spine
Shannon Wright
Pete Yorn
Loudmouth
Jimmy Flemion
Fallon from Kittie
The bassist from Jimmie's Chicken Shack
I worked with a guy who was in Great White.
I also worked with a guy who was the original bass player for Paul Revere and the Raiders. He played on the Ed Sullivan show and everything.
I know Bob Seger's touring guitarist who was in a band with members of the Grand Funk Railroad.

I think that there's more but thats all I can think of right now. I've also met Matt Pinfield

Pumpkins: Jimmy (x1), James (x1), Billy (x3)
The Offspring
Moby
Cyclefly
Matt Walker
Fieldy (Korn)

That's all I can remember right now.

More often than not, when the opportunity to meet a band presents itself, I usually end up not taking it, even though every experience with the exception of fat ass fieldy was really positive. Only if I really respect the person/band and would really get a lot out of talking to them do I bother making the effort. Every situation is different, but there are usually other people around who would get a lot more out of meeting the bands. In the end, people are people, and I realized its kind of lame meeting someone famous just so you can say you met them, especially if you don't have a lot of respect for them in the first place. But the few times I've had the chance to talk with bands that I love have made for memories I won't forget.

How was Moby? He seems like such a nice guy.

I haven't met anyone. I had the chance once but ehhh I didn't want to turn to a puddle of teeny bopper mush in front of them so i declined. Hopefully that will change very soon though. I'm such a dork.

Thumbs up

Moby was a really, really nice guy. I got the impression that he is very humble and somewhat shy. At the time I was working for Napster and he had just donated a 20 min. remix of some song to try to help the cause.

Not as cool as everyone else...

- I've met/talked to Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips a few times after shows and at a soundcheck once...
- Jermaine Jackson nearly bought a bulldog from my parents...
- I met the singer from Papa Roach, and, not knowing who they were, thought he was in Papas Fritas...
- I sat next to Tobin Gregory (from The Wondermints/Eels/Brian Wilson Band) on a plane flight from Boston to Mpls...
- My old band opened for Dr. Madvibe of Fishbone; does that count? We drank all the bottled water and beer on his rider...

along with being jealous, i must say that you remind me of john himself.

me:
tech n9ne, a couple of times
2 members of kittie
one of the singers from Trail of Dead

also, when i was working at Krispy Kreme, a guy came in that very well could have been fred durst. he looked EXACTLY like him and he had a bunch of suits (business people) surrounding him.
i went out to the car, after my friend said that it was him, and asked him if he was who he was and he said no, but i know it was him.

yeah, boring. boo to my list.

Thanks! (I think)

He was cool as hell, and this just after Fashion Nugget became huge, before The Distance was even a single, or at least in rotation. He was a friend and former roomate of a friend of mine who I went to see perform in a play in some cracked out theatre in Sacto.

Apparently, he's a big asshole now, but I'd like to meet him again and see.

These guys are pretty fucking crazy. This was just as they were getting huge, before everyone decided to hate them. They put on a fun show. I was entertained.

Needless to say, I was unenthused. I was kinda hoping he would have been an asshole, but he was really, really nice. We talked about the show Metallica just played under the name SPUN, and about the Ramones.
