Thumbs up Even if you don't usually listen to me (!!!)

Even if you hate me. Even if you don't ever trust my taste in music... Even if you never listen to my advice again, then listen to me just this once:

Gogol Bordello...

I went to see them last night and it was the BEST SHOW EVER. I had never heard of them before then but after the first song I was floored (actually, during the first song I was floored... and this was before the singer came out). They MADE MY MONTH!

If they play in your town, I IMPLORE you PLEASE go. You will NOT regret it. I can't imagine ANYBODY not liking their live show. I cannot emphasize how good this band is. I bought both their records after the show and they're fucking awesome in the studio too.

Well, so far I've only talked about how fucking amazing they were... Here's a description of their actual show and music... taken from the eyedrum website:

Made up of immigrants and refugees from Russia, the Ukraine and Israel, the members converged in New York four years ago with a mission to make a new kind of rock 'n' roll that reflected their struggles and peripatetic heritage. Their sound is raucous, sweaty, tuneful and recklessly vibrant, like the punk and Gypsy music that inspired them. Eugene Hutz, the singer and leader of the band, has given the concoction an apt name, "Gypsy punk cabaret."

Here are their remaining tour dates:

3/10 - Nashville, TN, The End
3/12 - New Orleans, LA, High-Ho Lounge
3/14 - Austin, TX, SXSW @ Red Eyed Fly
3/16 - Tucson, AZ, Club Congress
3/17 - San Diego, CA, Casbah
3/18 - Los Angeles, CA, Echo Lounge
3/19 - San Francisco, CA, Bottom of the Hill
3/21 - Portland, OR, Berbati's Pan
3/22 - Seattle, WA, Chop Suey
3/26 - Denver, CO, Larimer Lounge
3/28 - St. Paul, MN, Turf Club
3/29 - Chicago, IL, Beat Kitchen

We have their record in rotation right now. It's okay, but it certainly didn't floor me when I heard it.

Go see them live. I'm not kidding you. The album is only a pale echo of their shows. Perhaps I like the album so much because it reminds me of seeing them live. I've only listened to the album once, so I can't say for certain.

I saw !!! once. They put on a good show. Unfortunately, the music just wasn't to my liking.
