Question europe in one month?

hello all, oh how i've missed you.

so im taking some summer classes in geneva that will be over at the end of july. however, i have no plans for the rest of the summer so my prof is changing my return flight to the end of august.

i will spend most of july in geneva and go around that part of france and i have meetings to go to in brussels, so i'll get to see some cool places by default just through my classes. my flights to and from the states are covered by my tuition, flying out of geneva.

what would be some good plans of action for a month? I'm not trying to see everything, but maybe one or two places i could hit up and have a really good time. I'm thinking spain and italy, this may be possible. I'm pretty sure my friend is planning a weekendish trip to amsterdam somewhere during july so that's taken care of (i wont leave europe without poppin off there). I'm open to anything, really.

my budget is $1000.

Amsterdam is a great idea.. why not Berlin?

Paris and London are rubbish..infact ignore the UK completely.

go to madrid and barcelona- i'm so envious. I was planning a trip there for the summer and its looking like now money might be to tight to go. Those two (and prague- my friend who toured all of Europe said that Prague was the most beautiful and not too expensive) is what i'd check out.

i plan on hopping the pond in April, and though money's tight, i gotta go. is it ticket prices that are keeping you, or housing, or . . . ? because deals usually spring up about two months before intended travel times.

also, I am March 11th- March 15th in Davos. I have booked a single-bed room in some 3star thing. If you want to visit Davos, I guess you could bring a sleeping bag and you could stay few days with me for no charge as school pays it. I wouldn't party and I will be gone the whole day everyday. I doubt you'd be willing to go all the way from Geneve though

I feel like i have to go too, because i'm graduating and after all this time I haven't been able to afford/take time off to travel anywhere. But i have a lot of debt from being in school (about 40 thousand) and i'm making plans to start up my own freelancing which is startup money i need to spend. $2000 or whatever for a trip is a lot to me right now.

I think i assume everyone to be Americans here.

Then I remember having a conversation with Paul about how you mod during the hours when they are asleep. I have a bad memory!

you should go. If you are in debt 40 grand, 1000-2000 bucks won't kill you. And if you start saying 'not now, I will go later-next year', then it's more like you will never do th trip at all.

for italy, I would spend some time in florence and venice (just because...). avoid naples. that place is filthy.

and you should go to zurich if you can. I know it's bad to run around a continent like that, but it's a beautiful place. Plus you've got a friend to visit.

Prague is awesome. If you can stay there on the cheap (which if you have a hookup there seems the case), then I'd definitely recommend it.

And, personally, I loved visiting Rome. Of the cities I visited- Florence, Rome, and Venice- I'd go back to Rome first without hesitation. So many amazing things there.
