living in the homestate of the great reverend falwell i have those people in my history class..i guess that's the problem with taking european history. you get eurocentric people in your class or people who are just taking it for a ger. sigh. i took european history for the opposite reason. because my 'world history' classes in high school really were world history and i never learned much european history except the teeny weenie details like all the different charles' and henrys and i wanted a broad view anyways yeah. but we learned about islam yesterday and how much territory they conquered and how mohammad like sieged mecca and this girl is all 'so is islam really a religion of peace?' and then on our class discussion board people are 'islam doesn't seem to place too much emphasis on love. god is so distant in islam. in christianity we are taught to love god and that god loves us. i don't see this in islam' and i'm of course just and it's so sad that like falwell says the same shit and he gets so much controversy when it's like. islamophobia is actually a real word. i found it on everything2.com

and of course you have all these horrible muslim countries these days with repressive governments, but, you know, during the middle ages islam was thriving and doing science and literature and architecture and western europe was basically sleeping in its own shit. so whatever.

A new term coined around mid-1990's, used to describe hostility towards Islam and prejudice against muslims mainly due to stereo-typical uninformed views that are deeply rooted within western culture. It encompasses the element of dislike of the Islamic faith and active discrimination of people belonging to the religion.

Although the term is new, anti-Islamic racism itself is as old as Islam, and currently seems to be undergoing a revival.

Default trinity

oh yeah. and in this other fucking topic they're all talking about how islam discounts the trinity and jesus' divinity and they're so confused by that and trying to come up for different reasons why the koran says the trinity doesn't exist or jesus wasn't divine. i am so ready to go 'because in the torah it specifically says god is one and god doesn't have a fucking body' i mean seriously. it's not like the trinity suddenly appeared in christian ideology it was finely tuned to sort of rationalize how god can be three and have a body and still comply with jewish concepts of god it's so fucking stupid.
