Try "Thieves", "Jesus Buit my Hotrod", and "Lay Lady Lay".

Goth: umm...Bahaus.

Skinny Puppy, period.

There is no band out there that is better than Skinny Puppy.

Do not attempt to challenge the truth either.

hey thanks a bunch. For my audio production class i'm putting together a comercial for one of the shows on our college radio station. It's called Last Rites and is a Goth/Industrial show so I was looking for a ton of songs, especially ones that i hadn't heard, before going into the studio to start it. This should suffice but feel free to list more if you got them. i like a lot of what i'm hearing.

Default Short but Sweet

I'll keep this short and sweet. It seems most of you guys have been naming older goth/industrial bands and newer ebm. What ever happened to new goth?

If you're looking for something groove oriented, with alot of Over the top sexuality check out London After Midnight's "Your Best Nightmare"

If you want something edgy, bass driven, Batcave-ish and really naughty sounding, check out Cinema Strange (on mp3.com)

If you're looking for something wistful and romantic in a cure-ish/warmer Siouxsie kind of way, check out Bella Morte's "Whispers" (on mp3.com)

If you want something playfully spooky, really cute and punky check out "Horror Highschool" or "Christina" by Zombina and the Skeletones (on mp3.com)

If you want something epic, B-movie horror ish with a western twang, check out Ghoultown on mp3.com

Other's that are less silly, and more serious are Myssouri, Unto Ashes, The Changelings and Mors Syphilitica. All of those are very organic, precussion anchored and vocal propelled. Do check these out if you want something more somber and cinematic.

Well that's it for new goth kiddos, I hope you enjoyed your stay

~Basim. Rhymes w/ Possum

It sucks.

Ok, that was a bit harsh. It's just not my cup of tea. I like new goth stuff when I'm in the mood for a laugh. The Cruxshadows and Switchblade Symphony are guilty pleasures once in a while because they're so cheesy. London After Midnight are a bit much, though. Newer goth music is OK for dancing to in a club but the older stuff is the only thing I can really sit down and listen to.

Have you heard Audra yet? They're on mp3.com, very much like a shoe gazing version of Bauhaus, with similar deep vocals.

What about Bella Morte? They keep stuff fairly varied, and they have distinct non-goth influences in their music (hip hop, Oi, Metal).

Myssouri may be something you'd like! Check out "devil on my shoulder" it's a tad western-ish... but it's kept digestable.

I dare you to listen.

...this is what happens when i bring my friends to 'phoria...

and when i listen to shit like LAM, i want to dance, or fuck. one of the two... either way, it doesn't make me want to nap.

heh... basim and i have a few theories about the cruxshadows, don't get me wrong- rogue gives some kickass hair tips but i can only take *so* much of his constant whining...and this is coming from a chick who has been weeping to morissey since she was 11... i like the whining...i love the old stuff. i actually didn't get seriously into the newer stuff until i met basim...but there is some great stuff out there that doesn't exactly fit the "typical" standards, but...hey- at least it has a sense of humor again... like zombina *lol*

this thread is about to get pretentious... *starts handing out cloves*

heh.
