Default When writing reports

What spacing do you use?

i think it was drilled into my brain in college to always use 1.5 spacing and now when I try to use single spacing it looks so cluttered. But all the documents I see in this company have single spacing. Ugh.

single.

my problem is that i'm so used to putting two spaces after periods, but our editor is always going through deleting one of them.

I'd always use single spacing, unless it was for some proper scientific journal or something. And as I don't have to write too many of those...single...

you always use double spacing so you can edit it better when it's in hardcopy

the last time i wrote a paper was in a history class last year, and we were required to double space. i usually double spaced in high school for ease of editing i guess

In all of my jobs (and in grad school too), I have used single spacing.

your company should have templates if it cares about this

Single spacing is so awful. Whenever I see classmates come into the room and pull out their papers or assignments and they're in single spacing I feel so bad for the professor. I can barely even stand to read 1.5 spacing, it seems a little cluttered, but not as bad. I think I'm just really picky, because I always have to align my text justified-- left aligned text looks sloppy to me, too.

phaedrus-- I do the double space after the period thing, too.

Who the hell uses 1.5 spacing? It's either single or double. Single sucks for school papers. I don't know about the work world though.

1.5 is pretty standard for technical papers. at least at my school.
