That banner, by the way, referred to the mission of the carrier, which was returning home from the Gulf. Their mission was accomplished, and it is not odd for a carrier to have such a banner during a ceremony, although usually those ceremonies are carried out when docked, not at sea.

The alleged insult is a total non-issue in reality. Kerry looking dumb whilst attempting to make Bush look dumb - a comparitably simple task - was the real shocker.

The guy compromised himself out of the Presidential election with his desperation at trying to appeal to a 0.1% demographic that is courted by both parties, to the detriment of both.

-not to say being a soldier is easy .... but it does provide young adults coming from low-income neighborhoods a pretty easy chance of bettering their lives, and moving up on the social ladder.
