I just got back from my local EB. They just got the Wii demo kiosk, the whole setup looks great, really sleek white with neon blue light going up and down the stand. The system itself was slanted, and about the size of 2 DVD cases. I watched the manager there unwrap the box it came in (which was about 6 1/2 feet tall) and it came completely setup, nothing to hook up; it was all ready to play. So here is my chance right? Turns out the Nintendo rep forgot to leave the controllers.

From what I've read the rep has to set up the kiosk in person. The stores aren't supposed to touch the thing themselves. The stand lets it sit on an angle. I don't know if I'll stand it up or sit it down. The designer said he hopes we stand it up. I don't like having things at an angle but I'll give it a shot for his sake.

Nothing much has been said, but since it's coming out in 2007, I think it's pretty much a given it's playable online with Nintendo's WiiConnect24 service. Who do you use on Smash?

I'm not saying Smash Brothers sucks, but I rented it once and was not impressed. It felt like a super simplified Street Fighter. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, since a lot of people like it. What am I missing??

I think the thing about Smash that has me so hooked (and many others) is the fact that to be a good fighter you have to be a good player at it. You know, you can't just stand there and use Ryu's fireballs or Scorpion's spear; you actually have to think and act fast, and that's something I haven't really experienced with any other fighting game (except for Tekken......However, there is room to be cheap on SSBM).

That's why I use Mario on SSBM, I read someone who summarized him perfectly- "Mario is only as good as the player is". Something about that really stuck with me and now it's definately the only reason I play GC these days.

Also toe jam and earl on VC? that's just fucking sweet. I sure hope they put some saturn games out on it. I love the saturn. It has gems on it that have never been unearthed. (Dragon force, shining force, NiGHTS, panzer dragoon saga, x-men vs streetfighter)

The smash bros game looks good and all, and hell I love metaknight, but I doubt they can improve on the gameplay, it's so not worth it, but I guess they have to capitalize on solid franchises. I played the first smash bros far far too much anyway, played it to death. Who's that sexy girl character by the way?
