Opening day folks. This is like New Years in Canada.
What's everyones predictions for the 06/07 season? JINXING the following: VEZINA: Luongo (my homer pick, he'll have to carry the nucks into the playoffs for this to happen though. Our offense is a three legged dog. No bloody right wingers. Kippursoff will likely win it again. He is the new Hasek) NORRIS: Lidstrom (Neidermyer and Pronger will cancel each other out. Though Pronger does have the largest profile going into this season. I'd love to see Neidermeyer win another one too) CALDER: Malkin, though I'm really looking forward to seeing what Brule can do for Columbus. He was a beast in the CHL playoffs last year. RICHARD: Ovechkin (61 goals) Nash and Kovulchuk will be runners up. ART ROSS: Crosby (47 goals, 71 assists, 118 points). May be difficult considering who he's playing with. How much blood can you get from a stone? I don't see Thornton dropping off, so it'll be a wash between those two. HART: Luongo...okay, this is purely wishful thinking now. PRESIDENTS TROPHY: Anaheim STANELY CUP: San Jose defeats Buffalo (entertaiment wise this might be the best imaginable set up, so I probably have ulterior motives for making this pick.) DROP THE PUCK!!!!1 BTW: Was there a predictions thread last season? I'd be interested in queing that up! |

Oh, and for those of you who still have doubts as to whether or not Ovechkin is God.
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stor...hkin-golf.html Ovechkin Notches Hole-in-one in First Golf Outing Hockey star Alex Ovechkin hit a hole-in-one on his first day swinging a golf club. Ever. He hit the shot at a Washington Capitals pre-season charity tournament in Springfield, Va. After a few minutes of instruction, he shanked the ball repeatedly. Then he asked for a bigger club and his next shot settled on the green. A few hours, and dozens of balls later, he aced the 160-yard, par-3 hole. "We have this world-class, once-in-a-generation player whose personality is becoming the personality of the team," Capitals owner Ted Leonsis said, "which is: 'I can try anything. I can do anything.' " Having outpolled the more-ballyhooed Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins for top rookie honours last season, Ovechkin quickly established himself as a superstar, a winger gifted with speed and strength, with deft moves and a love of the game, someone the Capitals are building around and banking on. "I'll try to do things like I did last year, play like I played last year — hard. Hit. Score goals. Pass. And be a good teammate," Ovechkin said, twirling a golf club in his hands during an interview. "I don't think about whether it will be tougher or easier." |
