his other post about how you just have to be a student there is much worse on so many levels.

one of my best friends is an nd alum. these guys are generally so delusional about the notre dame experience that it is almost unbearable to hear them discuss it.

Knoxville is an intimidating place to play. Ann Arbor is an intimidating place to play. South Bend never has been. I was just wondering if it seemed like ND's home field advantage meant anything, because in the past, it hasn't.

you are fishing for someone to tell you how AWESOME you think ND is.

According to your last post we wouldnt really understand the EXPERIENCE unless we were going to school there and knew the amazing HISTORY, so why are you even asking us?

It was one of the more quiet "big time" college football games I've ever been to.

I was across from the student section, and they were cheering, but the rest of the stadium might as well have been at a swimming meet.

What an awful game though. Penn State was able to move the ball initially, but then it went straight to hell. Props to Notre Dame - I didn't think PSU would win, but figured they'd not lose by more than a touchdown. How wrong that was ...

I read this morning that Ohio State's alumni association rented out the Erwin Center (where UT plays basketball) and hosted a viewing party for 30,000 alumn. Can this be confirmed?

If it's true, that's amazing.

yeah, this is what has always bothered me. you have people paying $250-$500 for tickets, and they just don't really give a shit. what's the point?

On the other hand, when it's such a lopsided game, it's kind of understandable.

The first half wasn't lopsided though. It was just a dead atmosphere, and the tailgating - I guess you could call it that - was a joke.

undercover cops nail anyone under 21. which takes out a substantial portion of the student body. (the threat didn't stop me from having a few...but that's only because I was already pretty drunk. I've heard a lot of bad stories.)

each school has its own sport or tradition that the students participate in the most

each school's "thing" is different and has its own vibe

comparing one school to another is completely fucking stupid because each one is so different and will be enjoyed differently by different types of people.

sppunk is too brainwashed right now to even comprehend that. It's healthy to have school spirit and support your school but saying that noone else can even comprehend your experience is a bit pompous and not in very good sportsmanship. It's true we can't comprehend it, but that doesnt make your experience any better than other peoples. You cant begin to comprehend what it was like to be at the thursday night Miami/VT game when everyone showed up early and just jumped up and down in the stands for half an hour before the kick off because we were so fucking pumped. You don't know what it's like to stand on the side of the streets in blacksburg screaming with thousands of other people while the football players walk into the stadium to start warming up, and giving them high fives. You don't know what it's like to rush the field after a huge win, and have everyone on the field literally ecstatic and high five and hugging everyone, even strangers. Fuck you Sppunk, you need to grow up.
