so i just saw memento for the first time..

wow.

i really enjoyed it, and it seems to be very open for interpretation. pretty original, ive never seen a movie with scene by scene reverse order while running the first chronological part of the movie in bits between the scenes. (that probably sounds pretty confusing to anyone who hasnt seen the movie) i recommend it to anyone, but make sure you're ready to pay some attention.

guy pearce did a pretty good job. what are your thoughts on the movie or interpretations?

this next part has spoilers and my interpretation, so dont read if you plan on watching.

so im thinking lenny did have a client named sammy, and he did suffer from anterograde amnesia, but his wife didnt have diabetes, and lenny picked up the disease possibly by his involvement with that case. in many of the scenes where sammy was described lenny was just describing himself. (there was actually a scene when sammy was in the hospital after his wife had died, where when someone passes sammy becomes lenny) as the movie hinted, lenny probably killed his wife, who did have diabetes, with an insulin overdose. (i have a question about this later) he conditioned himself to think that she had died after the two guys had raped her, even though she lived after the raping. teddy was a good guy even though he was annoying throughout the movie, he wanted to help lenny find peace of mind. but, he wasnt a straight edge officer. (the entire taking justice into your own hands and killing off people using lenny's disease, the 200 grand he was getting killing jimmy the drug dealer) it confused me a little when the movie had just ended when i was trying to think how lenny got the note telling him to see natalie after he killed jimmy, but then i remembered he took jimmy's clothes and the note was probably meant for jimmy. natalie had problems with that dodd guy, so she set him up so lenny would kill him, even though he didnt. she then traced teddy's license number that lenny wrote down in his moment of vulnerability when his trust in teddy was thrown off after finding out teddy set up all the kills on supposed john g's. teddy's license was traced, revealed a john g, the tat reminded lenny to kill him, and lenny killed him off.

now a couple of Qs, even if u didnt feel like reading all that jazz.

there was a shot of lenny with his wife and a tattoo saying "I've done it", along with all his other tattoos. in the picture after he kills the original john g, he points to the spot he gets that tattooed. do you think maybe his wife couldve still been living? maybe teddy was fucking with his head with the OD diabetes thing.

who do you think dodd was? whats the deal with trying to kill him? jimmy was a drug dealer, and natalie was his girlfriend. maybe it had something to do with a drug deal?

who do you think sammy really was? just a minor case that lenny blew up with his own experience?

anyone have an interpretation thats completely different?

i think its open to different interpretations, depending on how you see it. id think the way i see it right now would be how its generally accepted to people who have only seen it once without really diving into the trivial details that give other hints to different scenarios.

Great movie. I would think Sammy is Guy Pearce, because in one seen they show Sammy in that care home, and a nurse walks by the camera, and for a flash Guy is sitting where Sammy was and then the scene ends or something.

yeah, that was something i caught too. it rose an eyebrow during the actual scene then made more sense during teddy's explaination.
