i dont really see how this could be good for google. theyre going to get a billion pictures of guys doing differents tuff labelled as "guy", different birds "bird" etc

well, that's why some images have certain labels (that other people have already given) marked as "off limits", forcing you to come up with something more specific, i suppose.

i'm not saying it's foolproof, though.

yeah, i think that's the idea. as time goes on and they collect more and more data, more and more labels will go off-limits.

personally, i think this is a pretty fascinating little project they have going. especially since i read up on it on their "summer of code" page not to long ago.

to answer another question, i think they're keeping it to smaller pictures so that people with slower connections (like me right now) can keep up with their partner.
