Question Los Angeles Recommendations

So I'll be in LA for 3 days this September with a friend who is from Europe and we've both never visited the city before. I wanted to get some recommendations from those who live there or have traveled there in the past as to what are some fun and interesting activities/nightlife that we could both participate in? We're staying downtown near Little Tokyo and I'll have a rental car.

hollywood isnt spectacular, there is some decent clubs up and down sunset. a club ive been to a couple times that i remember was clockwork orange, but im not big on clubbing. thats a nice place though. lively.

the amoeba in hollywood is the best part of it imo, you could spend hours there.

there are lots of malls and whatnot, the glendale galleria is pretty big but theres so much construction there it looks like shit right now. old town pasadena is where a bunch of teenagers go to, but its a nice place.

hit all the beaches, they're great down here.

I dont think anything is close time-wise to downtown LA because of the traffic. but honestly I've only driven around LA and the cloud of smog didnt leave a very good impression. But what do I know. there are a few people here that like LA and can give you some good places to go.

...he'd be asking about an even worse city

downtown LA isn't the worst place for you to be staying. see if there's a show at the troubadour, silverlake lounge, the echo or spaceland. if you want to do something movie-related, go to the new beverly theater, which is los angeles' ONLY strictly revival movie theater. you get to see two classic films for $6 and the lineup changes every two days. mexican food is usually good and on nearly every street corner, i'd recommed you eat out of a legit taco truck. santa barbera is an hour and a half's drive up the 101 and has some pretty things but is largely a waste of time.

i dunno, what kind of stuff do you want to do
