Default I just won a copy of V for Vendetta on DVD

Is it a good movie? I remember people posting about it a while ago.

Yes I realise I could go to IMDB but I only trust the learned opinion of Netphoria.

i enjoyed it. it's a little heavy-handed with the political allegory and there are some silly moments (including a cheesy, pointless scene featuring lots of dominoes) but on the whole it's a satisfying watch; the titular character is fascinating and mostly the plot, acting and dialogue are on the money. after the matrix trilogy i was expecting far worse

The lesbian subplot is a little forced, but overall a great movie.

I really enjoyed it. I downloaded it weeks ago and never got round to watching it until Monday. I am currently incapable of giving any sort of decent review, but I thought it was a good movie.

swithering- generally procrastinating over making definite decisions about something.

That bit is so much better in the comic, where V does an inhuman amount of behind-the-scenes manipulation, much more than in the film, and the image feels completely appropriate. There are a few spots like this, where the movie uses the comic's imagery but not the context (for lack of time, obviously). But overall I thought it was quite good, and although I expected to be constantly at odds with all the deviations from the source material, I ended up appreciating what the writers did to condense and get the idea across. I'd say if you liked the movie you'd love the original comic miniseries, but the film still stands as a pretty decent thing unto itself.

I bought and watched it last night without seeing it previously. It was 110 degrees in my house and I was really tired so I'll watch it again soon but I can tell I liked it a lot. I thought Hugo Weaving did an excellent job.

Portman in a schoolgirl outfit was just ridiculous.
