MASSIVE

ps. Trot was and still is my favorite Sox player of all time. I've loved him since he was a minor leaguer that was called a young Will Clark, and I still do. but regardless of his excellent OBP, it's Wily Mo time. we need a #5 hitter, and he's the guy of the future. thanks for the memories Trot.

He'd be 9-11 with a 5.something.

Just sayin'.

are you seriously telling me that if the reds called and offered to give arroyo back for pena that you wouldn't make that deal?

if you believe that, the red sox need to fire dave wallace

Dave Wallace isn't pitching coach cause he had hip surgery! gotcha there!!

anywho, no I would not. while our pitching situation is dire, you don't trade away the future for a quick fix. arroyo is regressing to the mean, and wily mo is primed to become the stud he is.

just once it would be cute for you not to think every move the sox make is great and every sox player is the best ever

dude, i like wily mo pretty much, but im not gonna fool myself and think that he will be here long. the has been "poised" for a breakout the past two years and all he has done is stike out a whole hell of a lot.

thats pretty effective

yeah...and he's 24...

he put up an .843 OPS at the age of 22! do you trade a 29 year old pitcher whose peripherals dropped like a rock (specifically the K rate) for a guy like wily mo? absolutely, and twice on sundays. it wasn't a bad trade then, and it's not now. I'm not blinded by bias either, that's ridiculous. any sabermetrically inclined person would tell you that the Sox made the right move. have the Sox made bad moves? absolutely! this year even, trading David Riske for Javier Lopez, giving up too much for Doug Mirabelli (panic move), signing Rudy Seanez, giving Tavarez 3 mil (good god), just to name a few. was it poor planning to rely on David Wells and Matt Clement? yeah...but there was no reason to expect Arroyo to improve. you never pass on that trade.

I thought getting mirabelli for loretta was an absolute steal, yes. but I still don't like the knee-jerk reaction to reacquiring mirabelli. of course, I was all for it at the time, because bard couldn't catch the knuckeball. I still think bard is a better catcher, meredith is better than rudy seanez, and the cash doesn't help either. I guess you live and die by the knuckleball.

Well considering they weren't going to carry three catchers and wanted Mirabelli to catch Wakefield, Bard was useless.

Also I don't get why you're mentioning Seanez here, he wasn't involved in either of those deals.

he's pointing out that because he doesnt like some of the Red Sox transactions it makes him objective.

Well, it doesn't

He's even less objective than sppunk

They could both learn something from Amy

ooookay, I don't get how defending a (from all indications) VERY good trade makes me not objective...
