I say it in casual conversation, I guess. I used to say it all the time but after having to read out long sequences of numbers to people on the phone for a while I started saying zero. Most people I know say "oh" though and noone thinks much of it. My area code is 540 and we say five four 'oh' and say the zip code 'two four oh six oh'

Yeah everyone around here says four oh one for the area code. I never actually thought about it until just now. I say "zero" for everything else except the area code.
