sirius is better - plus whenever a song comes on you like, it will save the entire song in mp3 format and you can load that to an ipod (or other mp3 playr). I know - ridiculous but nice sometimes.
I also like listening to stern.

Yeah.

You can thank clear channel for sucking the FCC's dick enough to convince them that satellite radio at a desirable bitrate for streaming (say, 64, 96, or 128kbps with a respectable codec) is unfair competition.

So of course the FCC is leaving XM and Sirius in the stone age, with low bitrates that kind of sound like AM radio but in stereo.

There is absolutely no need for subscribers to put up with that. You're paying for service... it's SATELLITE RADIO... a simple 128kbps AAC stream would be fucking easy.

My father has Sirius. I really love the Left of Center channel, and the alt. rock stations aren't too bad either. I would not however waste a cent on their service until they improve sound quality. And that is sadly up to the FCC and clear channel.

left of center is hilarious

it's a 24-hour channel of death cab for cutie, spoon, and the walkmen
what a fucking disaster. i want to have my own hour-long block of noise, free jazz, and modern composition on that channel.

I mainly keep sirius to listen to stern. I like some of the variety, but more than anything I enjoy mixing my own tracklists to listen to.

eh left of center is alright.

Last time I listened, I heard Built to Spill, Jenny Lewis, Radiohead, Guillemots, Elliott Smith, My Bloody Valentine, Morrissey, R.E.M., Neko Case...

It was a good playlist. Except for when they played the fucking Arctic Monkeys.

XM has some HD 5.1 surround stations coming out...too bad you need to buy another receiver that will work with it.

I don't think I have to mention how great Stern has been

Left of center is pretty good. I love the vault, classic rewind and buzzsaw but sirius needs a 90's rock station

They do... so I'm assuming you don't like it?
I did not pay much attention to it, but from what I heard, it was basically a clear channel clone (minus the commericals).

I've Sirius in my car & I think it sounds fine. Plus, it blows regular radio out of the water. The best part of Sirius is the streaming on the internet. That sounds crystal clear. It's something not owned by Clear Channel playing the same 15 songs all day long.

You mean The Pulse? It's like Ace of Base and similar 90's pop.

Horrible

why am i hearing this stupid rap song on my howard 100 stream?

this is coming after a play of that prank call using Martin Landau from Ed Wood. No matter how many times I hear it I can't stop laughing.

my mom got a free 90-day XM trial when she bought her new car that was XMready or capable or shit. She loved it (no idea why).

I can honestly say that I'll never pay money to listen to the damn radio. Satellite radio is nothing special. I don't want to have to pay for a subscription or a new receiver blah blah blah. fuck it

Yeah. I used to drive a lot, but my CD player plays MP3 cds. So i throw a lot of random shit on those and can switch out between those enough to never even touch the radio
