I was used to shop in Sherbourne's No Frills, but it's smaller, they don't have all the sutff I need, and I was always trying to make it quick before someone steals my bike otuside. The only better thing about Sherbourne was that I could better recognize the people behind counter, and there was this older lady who for some reason thought I am an Italian and she always spoke Italian at me and I always laughed and gave her replies back in bastardized mixture of Spanish and Italian. Also, on the bills there was always pritned the first name of the clerk - I liked that - in Dufferin they have only numbers.

The boss of Dufferin - Joe- seems to be don't-fuck-with-me manager, too. The other day there were two No Frills girls talking how 'Paul was called to see Joe' and there was this sudden un-easiness in her voice when she only pronounced Joe's name. It gave an impression chances are no one will ever see Paul again - maybe his body will show up on day at the shore. Joe looks like a typical Cosa Nostra character, too.
i've had some bad experiences in sherbourne - one time an angry woman shoved me into a rack of magazines for no apparent reason, and i've been banged with carts on my legs and feet a good many times. i usually go to the one on parliament. there's a drunken homeless lady that screams at you when you walk by but i'm used to her. one time i met a very nice drag queen there. that's awesome you like observing the workings of the store like that.. i'll keep an eye out for joe next time i am there.

hey jan, how'd your english get so much better all of a sudden?

at the moment the supermarkets i use [or whoever's shopping, normally my mum; i'm living at home] are morrison's [was safeways pre-takeover] which is pretty crappy but close or tesco's which is out on the ringroad but a lot bigger and a little cheaper too. we also get some stuff from the greengrocers especially stuff like sacks of potatos.

when i get to houston i expect i'll be using fiesta mainly

did you read my german whining thread or what?

I guess I wasn't running/working on another 3-5 things at the same time while posting at that moment. I am usually boarding Jerome-style:

basically run away and find the store manager so that he/she can have the union member ejected from the store.

apparently walmart is intimidated by the idea of unionizing. they think that they offer their employees a substantial enough benefits package so that said employees wouldn't need the backing/support of a union.

i grew up with my father being seriously involved with a local union and walmart was just so adamant about the whole thing and then to actually have a video to specifcally instruct you on how to deal with the "situation" of being approached...way creepy.
