Well, maybe not so much terrifying as revolting and making me want to run away from the film, but Meet the Feebles; the Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover; and Salo were pretty intense movie-watching experiences.

The biggest cliche ever:

The Exorcist is scary as HELL!
I was 13 when I saw it and it gave me nightmares for month.

But I am a wussie. I had to have my boyfriend tell me what was going on in Signs because I couldn't watch. Same with the Others. Same with the Sixth Sense. Same with that beverage commercial where that fucking shriveled nasy head pops up out of the guy and starts talking.

Ugh. Just watch THAT.

Deffinantly The Shining, the original version.

I didn't watch it through the first two times, the twins kept freaking me out (i was just a kid.)

man, the book was great, though. nothing at all like the movie. at all. not a scary book (i don't really ever find him to be very scary, or even disturbing), but great science fiction. anyone who likes his books generally but steered cleared of that one should read it, it's a nice surprise.

I don't really get scared from movies like I used to when I was a kid, but the first Nightmare on Elm Street and The Exorcist scared the shit out of me. Serpant and the Rainbow too.

The Shining (original Nicholson version), even though it's not as scary to me now since I've seen it so many times. The first viewing of Blair Witch, before i knew it was a hoax. Communion.

It usually takes quite a lot to scare me, although I must admit that aliens do turn me into a cowering little girl.

holy shit. the decomposing body? that creepy old woman who knocked on the door? even in the beginning when that car crash happens and whatever her name is, miss brunette, when she gets up and walks down the hill, just the way it was shot from far away and the way she was walking just made her look like some freaking zombie or something. that creeped me out so much.

The tar dreadlocks guy was the scariest thing about that movie. And I agree that is was disturbing and powerful as it influenced my thinking for a week. Man, I need to get that.

As a little kid, I was always terrified of Poltergeist. which still scares me. Same with Alien, only now I just really like it.
