i suspect after lengthy discussion (it was about 1 hr, 38 minutes between knowing the full WTC story and acting on the knowledge according to the movie i watched on lifetime) they decided to regain control of the plane and turn it towards the middle east to fly it into the dome of the rock for revenge.

unfortunately the american passengers had spent all their flight-simulator-game time in their childhood designing comically out of proportion planes and crashing them for giggles and didnt have any experience with flying, let alone landing

heeeheehee

I want to see it, I'm obsessed with September 11th stuff in a completely insensitive to New Yorkers sort of way. I agree with the point about Titanic and Pearl Harbor.

From what my roomate said, most of the movie doesn't occur in the plane - it's people who we know what they were doing that day. The events on the plane are pretty sparse for the most part in order to avoid insane fill-in-the-blank action between the events that we know for sure occurred.

As far as the Let's Roll thing - that was one of the first things I asked him. Yes, it is in there - but it's not all Hollywooded out - it's more of just casual conversation between him and another dude, which I bet is really how it did happen.

I just saw it tonight. I must say, I was with all of you "blah blah blah hollywood scumbags cashing in on 9/11 blah blah too soon blah blah" crowd before I actually saw the thing. it was extremely tastefully done, and not over the top whatsoever. no big heroic moments. even gave the terrorists a human feel to them, rather than THE EVIL ENEMY. the "let's roll" thing was downplayed, more of a tidbit of conversation than anything else. as was said before, most of the movie doesn't even take place in the plane. I don't know why, but my heart was absolutely racing as the terrorists were getting ready for the hijack, in a way that a movie hasn't affected me...maybe ever, perhaps because I can still remember that day so vividly and I know what is about to happen. kinda gets you pissed at the FAA and the military. also the movie doesn't really let you get too attached to the passengers, so it's not turned into a big drama blubber fest. really tastefully done. the movie really affected me, more so than any movie in a while.

in summary, if you have any doubts, go see it. you'll be surprised. I sure was.

This is what I was afraid of. I still don't know if I could check it out or not.

I'd honestly recommend. I was really afraid that it'd be too sad to watch. there are some "I love you mom" moments, but you don't get to know them enough to really let it affect you. tasteful, that's the only word I can use.

Reading the reviews, this movie doesn't seem to be anything like all the naysayers (who all have not seen it) in this thread assume it to be.

the movie is good. the movie makes you feel really uncomfortable like you're in the plane with the passengers as well.
