I've heard something about a memorial. Personally i think they should rebuild the towers even taller than before.

no, they shouldn't rebuild them. i think that would be really creepy. and..hmm, i wasn't too fond of the search light thing...it reminded me of a blockbuster store grand opening or something. i guess a memorial...or a park...a park would be nice.

They are currently deciding what should be done. Some sort of memorial, however, is a definite thing.

I think they should rebuild the towers exactly as they were...and ******* some sort of memorial in them/in front of them. The area there is fairly large...lots of room to do lots of things.

(And maybe just for kicks we could hang a "Don't Fuck With Us" flag from the top of the rebuilt towers.)

Yeah. Lower Manhattan is filled with parks. And there used to be a park right there near the WTC.

Pssh. The true New Yorkers know that the best place to score drugs is Chinatown.

That piece of property is way too valuable just to have a park there. That's the fucking heart of the financial district in NYC. Get real people.

i saw an interview recently with the leader of some coalition of family members of the people that died - they are in the midst of negotiating exactly what kind of memorial. so there is going to be one, they just haven't been able to come to an agreement on what it should be.

personally i think a roller rink would be nice. but that's just me.

Exactly. There will be a memorial of some sorts. But, there will also be office buildings.

I think they should rebuild them exactly the same.

However the problem is, who the hell is going to want to work above like 75 floors? Renting space probably wouldn't be a problem considering there will always be cheap ass companies or start up companies that are looking for cheap office space but would anyone seriously want to risk working that high up there again?

The property is huge, anyone who was there before they collapsed would know this. If they rebuilt the Towers there would be plenty of room to make a fairly large memorial.

There could also be additional memorials inside the new buildings. I remember the first time walking into the WTC a few years ago, on the ground levels there is so much open space.

Whatever the case it is going to be a huge battle over what to do with the land.

I hope they would rebuild it exactly the same but I doubt that will happen, doesn't sound too likely.

Actually, I think a lot of New Yorkers would be willing to work on the top floors.

And I think there are a lot of people running aroung afraid of tall buildings and not wanting the towers to be rebuilt so tall. The WTC was not attacked because it was tall...it was attaacked because it was the World Trade Center, the key words there being world and trade. The Pentagon certainly isn't tall.

God I hope they don't rebuild them. Maybe it's just me, but I doubt anyone would want to work in a building that's been bombed, then hit by a plane. At least, anyone who has a brain. A memorial is most fitting. But as was pointed out, the land is so valuable that I wouldn't be surprised if they built the towers back up.

They should and they need to. The WTC was the heart of the Financial District. There will without doubt be a memorial. And it is entirely possible to both build a memorial and rebuild the towers.

And I really believe that New Yorkers would be willing to work in the rebuilt WTC towers. I think there are many people who won't let fear get the best of them...there's this New York spirit...this something among New Yorkers...

One plan is to make 4 shorter buildings and a memorial.

I know if I used to work in the WTC and lived I would not be too hip on going back into a structure that looked exactly the same.

I think it wou;d be cool if they couold somehow restore the skyline without duplicating the towers.

I liked the beams of lights yeah it was a teeny bit odd but I thought it was moving.

There are going to be public meetings and input. If they learned anything fromt he vietnam war memorial they should let the victims families have input but not the definitive last word some steering commitee or whatever.

I really miss the buildings.

Also there are 19, 565 body parts they still need to figure out who they belonged to...

I liked the beams of light too.

That's good that they're having public meetings about it.

There was one plan I heard about where they were going to build five smaller buildings and a memorial in the middle.

I swear, I will bitch and moan--loudly--from Day 1 if they rebuild the towers.
