do you mean a portal to oblivion? if so, then no. all I've done are forts and caves. I've just been wandering the area around the Imperial City. I've done that for almost 10 hours. It's insane. when I can complete going around it, I'm gonna jump on the story.

what kind of items are you talking about? I just go to the merchant district in the Imperial City and sell it to whomever. It's all just like armor I don't need. I've got close to 3500 gold now.

*is prepared*

I've always got so much stuff on - luckily tennis finishes for me in about 3 weeks, and then it's winter - no reason to ever go outside until the spring...

I only have 700 gold ATM

as far as items... I have Chain Link set right now... ian Iron shield... i just got a ring (that has no buffs on it) and a necklace with no armor on it lol.

I did however find a badass goblin sword that electrifies the enemy when i hit them.

I'm trying to build up my skills and make a bunch of health potions before I go into that gate of oblivion place.

Is there a way to view an ingame map?

i'm starting to get the hang of this now.

i'm a wood elf/warrior/archer.. i'm guessing i should be using light armour.. i've got the shrouded armour and hood right now which is pretty cool.

what are the advantages to using light armour over heavy?

I think what he means is a minimap like in morrowind - it's a pain to press tab all the time to see where you're going.

i would suggest just buying a 360 instead for the game (and any of interest subsequent), but it runs barely acceptable on xbox.

you don't have to carry as much junk around with you. heavy armor generally weighs at least three times as much as light armor. this will help keep your agility low and so forth.

as for a minimap guys, I haven't noticed a desire for that at all, but I can see how you might want one. I find the compass pretty helpful and that's really all I need.

the effectiveness of your armour depends on your skill as well. so if you suck at heavy armour there's a big disadvantage.
i think i'll make a dunmer with blade/marksman/mysticism/destruction and some other stuff when i start this

I’m very excited about this game and have been looking forward to it for a long time. Shame they took out the mini map…it especially bothers me because they took it out simply because it did not fit conveniently on an xbox controller. Although, I should really get around to finishing Morrowind before I start Oblivion…I have been playing that game for 2 years now.

i just erased my saved games.. i was at over 30hrs.. i made some stupid decisions and wanted to start over.

if i don't give a shit about magic, and theivery, i should probably choose a character which is best with heavy armor, eh?

oh my god, i've been playing this game far too much. i turned the game off just a little while ago after being turned into a vampire. i procede to brush my teeth (it's after 4a.m.) and i was thinking how i need to go down the street and put a couple dvd's in the mail before the sun comes up since i'm a vampire now and can't be out in the sunlight.

i'm not kidding. i stopped brushing my teeth, looked myself in the mirror and just shook my head in disbelief.
